I think Curry has hands down proven to be one of if not the single best shooter of all time. His last three seasons are the three seasons of most made 3pters ever, they're also three of the highest percentages of all time.
I agree the current rules favor his game in a way that makes him better.
Top 5 all-time? That's tougher - he needs the longevity and at least five rings, I think, to be in that discussion. It's possible.
He's so damn good. It tears me up that the Knicks missed him by one pick and it basically MDA's fault for broadcasting it so widely that he wanted Curry.

he can't really get better
I'm beginning to think you post just to read your own writing. Do tell
I was really referring to the way he came out of the gate.
his WS48 this year is .646.
his TS is 76.
Then why didn't you say so? Pretty sure Curry's D can get much better.

Curry's D has gotten much better. Can he be a first teamer? Dunno - thats a tall order

Still a sore point for many Knick's fans, including me.
Minnesota might have screwed up the most, since they were ahead of us and took to PGs.
Wonder if he even worked out for them...seem to recall reading that he would not work out for GS, and that his dad wanted him to be in NYC with MDA.

There have been many many articles stating that GS wanted Curry VERY badly and would have taken him much earlier if they had a higher pick. No need to blame MDA on this one.
Teams don't base their pick on the opinion of coaches on other teams, that's just foolish thinking

This guy in 1973 lead the league in scoring AND assists!!!!!!
Not to take anything away from Curry and his quick release shot but.............

I thought the same thing about D'Antoni but read GS had their eyes on Curry for a LONG while. The thing we blew was not trading up with Minny to take him. That we almost surely could have done. Donnie had a great relationship to their owner I read.

What was Donnie offering? What did Minny want in return?
He can't be top 5 if Westbrook is a better player. All the top nba players are two way, in my book. Westbrook is a nightmare matchup on both ends.

New York boy. Great player...got hurt early in his career and he came down a few notches. Saw him play a few times on TV. Small, quick, and left handed. BB Reference says he was 6'1" but I cannot believe this- pretty sure he was under 6'. Better going to the basket than Curry.
I'll bet Clyde can give you some nightmare stories about trying to guard him.
He would have loved today's relaxed defensive rules. He was pretty much unguardable in his too short prime. More of a midrange shooter, even when the 3 came to the NBA.
Always thought it was great that he got a title with the Bird Celtics when he was older...and not just as a sub-he played big minutes for them that year.
Had his career year at 24...and got hurt the next year. Might have been different with today's surgical techniques. Still a very good player, but he was headed for superstardom before the injury.

You are right, but I'm not sure broadcasting your intentions is the smartest thing to do, either. Seem to recall reading that a few years ago Orlando made it very evident that they wanted Payton, and Hinkie deliberately took him to force Orlando to trade for him.
Jackson did a good job of keeping everyone in suspense- and the fact that so many folks had us taking players besides KP supports this.
Read an article about Curry telling GS he was not going to work out for them...they told him that it did not matter- they were going to take him anyway.
Its Minnesota's reasoning that always puzzled me, though...and it cost them.
BRIGGS wrote:I guess Curry needs some longevity but purely from watching with my eyes I can't name 5 better players that I have seen.
Comparing him to only guards and forwards and I don't think he makes top 5. Forget about including centers.
1. MJ
2. Magic
3. Bird
4. Dr. J
5. Bernard King
Now include players I have not seen play. Oscar Robertson, Clyde Frazier, Earl the Pearl.
Klay and Curry are the best SHOOTING guard tandem perhaps since West/Goodrich.
Key is having Klay in the backcourt and he can flat out shoot. Clyde sacrificed his scoring average to benefit the team and there was no 3 back then. Scoring was not the same era, but assists and defense do matter.
Magic? Iverson? The Logo? Nash? Cousy? Tiny?
Steph Curry had a 53 pt game so we might be a tad impressionable to the moment? Curry can be in the conversation.
Curry as a knick? we would have traded him to Denver in the melo deal. Don't fool yourself!!
lol top 5 player of all-time.
As of right now at this very moment, yes he is the best player. But would you seriously take him over Lebron? Jordan? Kobe? Karl Malone? John Stockton? Olajuwon?

I guessed that you changed your mind about lebron?

Too early too say. But I would definitely consider him over Stockton and Kobe if ge keeps this up.

Westbrook's D is overrated. Some guard always seems to blow up against in the playoffs. Westbrook just manages to score more.

He would be the greatest of all time if he keeps this up and wins a ring
nearly 40ppg 7 ast 5 rebs on 76% TS and 650 WS48...crazy stuff.
