Did anyone else think he looked gassed in the 4th?
If yes, how much of this was on...
1. being out of shape...again
2. iso melo using up energy inefficiently
3. having to actually play defense in the "new" mandate
4. equal parts of all of the above
5. question inapplicable because he didn't look gassed at all

Still getting back into game mode. It takes awhile. 37 mins is a lot.
did you watch him defend Lebron? That was a tough physical game. 37 minutes is too much this time of year coming off a knee fix. They need to keep his minutes down more.

Equal parts of all of the above. End of game conditioning has always been an issue with him even "peak" 54 win season Melo.
Melo firing on all cylinders usually has a hot 1st quarter, maybe 1st half explosion, if he has one of those scoring sprees.
Even the 62 pt game he surpassed Kobe and Bernard 2 seasons ago, he was languishing hard that 4 quarter to get that final bucket to break the garden record.
His sweet spot for preserving and maintaining him for at least playing 60-70 games is around 30 minutes or less a night. I'm pretty sure Fisher will give him game's off later in the season.
why does fisher not cut his mins now? woodson seemed to have the same problem.
Most coaches say they're going to monitor their star players' minutes to preserve their health and whatever, but the only one who ever seems to actually do it on a consistent basis is Popovich.

Needs some days off at this point...he is clearly not fully recovered from his injury, and even if he was in shape, he's not going to show as much during this stage of his recovery.

I think if the Knicks are in games and have a coach that wants to win you want the player that gives you the best chance to do that on the floor.
