Fisher is very frustrating to me. Maybe he is great as a practice coach but DAMN he is way to quiet during games. Looking at him , you would never guess if we are up 10,down 10,1st minute OR last minute of the game, bad call , good call --- NOTHING seems to get him excited. WHY ?
I would like to see passion, controlled emotion, communication , encouragement from the man in charge
Don't you remember Phil as a coach???? Dude was very chill often. He wanted the players to figure shyt out.
And this team has a way to go. Great teams have chemistry. With 9 new players it will take time.
rah rah coaches are a bit old school
watch fred hoiberg
Phil was criticized for not yelling or controlling the game at times. He thought the time for that is in practice and when players look over at the coach for direction they are lost.
Also in a time out he would let others figure it out. Its not lazy, its actually what you want when you are delegating. Since coach don't play, he is delegating isn't he?
Fish like other coache's are not just coaching for the moment but with a long term focus. If Melo is chucking away he either leads by example (dude better be on fire!) or its because nobody else is doing anything. Melo if called out can point his finger at that. If the team is balanced and calls him out, he is accountable to his team for his actions. If a coach buds in too much it does not resolve itself.
We are not in a position to judge Fish's intensity or involvement. Im sure we all want them to win and if it looks like fish is playing it "too" cool while you the fan is emotional then its a predictable response that you want the coach to seem like he is as involved as the fans.
This is what I want from my coach:
I just read an article on the job of an nba assistant coach, and honestly it is very important to have an overall sharp coaching staff. The assistance tend to have more to do as far as preparing the team on game nights as opposed to the head coach. The assistance do all of the scouting, from players tendency's, to opposing teams play calls. During the morning shoot around they take 7 plays that the opposition runs and go through a series of defensive schemes to counter it.. The head coach is responsible for in game adjustments and rotation, 2 areas fisher has major problems with.
A very good coach will master the game plan, take the info his assistance have supplied him with and put the right players in the right position. So when i start seeing fisher grasping for straws towards the emd of the first qtr when he has gone 11 deep it makes me think the planned they had was a crop of shht.
Fisher has never been too animated, thats not his personality, and during the first wk of training camp he vowed to speak less. He has the right frame of mind, but he still has a lot to learn and i think he needs a better staff behind him

so it odd that you pick the 1 quarter to criticize Fish, with the Knicks up 32-18.
You state that Fish has major problems with adjustments and rotations. Please explain.

You aren't comparing Fisher to a one of the best coaches of all time are you? That may work for PHIL but Fisher looks like he going to fall asleep standing on the side line
My expectation of an NBA coach is to take his team as far as the talent on the team dictates...If he exceeds expectation then he is a good coach..If he doesn't meet expectation then he isn't a good coach...How ever he gets there, I don't care...So Fisher could pull up a lounge chair on the sidelines with a bourbon and a Cohiba in hand for all I care, as long as we are winning...

His mentor. Dude was chill before he was the all time ring master. This is Fish style. Do you think a new coach can do better? which one? Why? Would they deviate from the NY knicks president plan that assembled a Triangle centric staff? If a team is instructed and fails, need they be yelled at? What about "quiet strength?
9 coaches in 13 years. He has yet to find his voice. The team has yet to find itself. What is it about patience that we don't understand?

How us anyone ever to find a giid rhythm if ur pulling him after 2 minutes because u just want ti experience if something will wrk. I literally seen him sub KOQ for kp with little over 5 min left in the qrt, he yanked him with 2+ mins left in the same qtr to put seraphin in, for what, just to give him some PT.
Then you'll stick with the same starters but your bench (which seem to have the best chemistry) you sabatage it by given guys irattic min.
If you want to flip flop the 10th guy, like ine game lance plays and one game serephin plays depending on the opponent, thats fine, but dont go givem guys token minutes for the hell of it, dont change whats working and ignore what not. Thats horrible coaching
Preparation, motivation and in game adjustments, game management ability.
Dolan is gonna have to shell out a shitload of money when the Knicks buyout Fish

Can someone please explain the following statement from Fisher to me:
Fisher: "If we're relying on Sasha and Jose to offensively make sure we're going to win, then we're not doing the right things anyway."
If not contribution on offense, where else can they contribute? Calderon is and was never known to be a defender. He is not rebounding the ball nor accumulating assists

I agree, very stupid comment by fisher that makes no logical sense, it's too bad none of the reporters hit him with a follow-up question on that. unless he's implying that they both just suck in general, but if he believed that then why would he be starting them?
