I think it should be noted that Monroe only had 8 pts. Sure it's disappointing on the surface that RoLo only grabbed 2 Rebs but he was clearly focused on battling Monroe. For the game NY had 43 Rebs and Mil 41. The Bucks are a very long and athletic team. We didn't lose because of RoLo that's for sure.

Which 2 rebound game against the Bucks are you referring to, Friday's game or the first game of the season?

The last game obviously. I don't think anyone is saying RoLo shouldn't be playing better. I just don't think it's at the point where we should be considering a switch to KOQ! After 6 freakin games some people are panicking already. Seems a bit premature to be putting that much weight on the 1st few games. I can understand why Fish wouldn't be considering such a move. Jose is different because it's been not just this season so far but last season too. It makes it harder to justify sticking with Jose, tho I can also see how Fish would be patient still given its only 6 games. We will all see what happens from here. I generally don't believe in panic moves. I usually prefer patience and being clear headed when making major decisions.
nychamp wrote:knickscity wrote:Gotta agree with Holfresh, Lopez has been an awful rebounder here. I recall when Porzingis was boxing out well in preseason but not getting the rebounds, and guess what he did? Put in the effort to concentrate on getting those boxed out rebounding chances. Lopez should do the same, and it's rather silly for anyone to defend such poor efforts especially when the opposing centers are outrebounding him. He's not winning his matchup and his team isnt winning the game. Imagine if he gets outrebounded by Hibbert. Hope the team wins despite this.
Not saying that Lopez has been great overall, because he hasn't, but if this is your takeaway from his performance in the first six games you're either 1) not watching the games, only looking at the stats 2) not understanding what you're seeing when watching (i.e. Lopez often clearing out opponents under the board and letting others get the actual rebound).
Lopez's shot has looked awful at times, but his effort has been there. He is also a physical force under the glass, in constant struggle against the beefiest opponents, a job that if not done results in the Knicks being physically dominated throughout the game. It's revealing (about you) that you try equate his low rebounding numbers to effort. The effort is there. If you're watching, Rolo obviously prioritizing taking his man out of the play and doesn't care about padding his rebounding stats.
You're making excuses for grossly subpar play. he hasnt been great in any aspect of his play. No starting center should get 4 rebounds in an NBA game. He's been awful, plain and simple. Letting others get the boards, while the man he's primarily covering usually outrebounding him. i dont even think thats even happening as often as you believe. Efforts is two fold...do the work and get the results.

Nixluva. I don't really count game 1 as the Bucks had 4 of their top 6 out. Since that time we are 1-4 with the one of worst offensive metrics in the nba. Why wouldn't moving Lopez to unit 2 Sasha and Jose straight out and moving Oquinn Galloway and Early in( until Affalo gets back to 35 minutes)

RoLo was brought in to be your starting C. He has been a starting C on 2 50 win teams. You don't make such a drastic move after 6 games! This isn't a Fantasy league where you can just snatch guys in and out of your SL. I think it would be a mistake to do that inside of the 1st 10 games.
Jose is a different story. There's reason to believe he may not ever be able to get his game back tho even in his case it's also very early to make the final call that he's done. I can understand being patient given that we're talking about 6 games here. Sasha was never in the plans to be starting so really moving him isn't an issue.

Ah that jibber jabber. Oquinn numbers across the board suggests close to all star numbers given 35 minutes. He rebounds blocks shots passes he's a better player than Lopez. Pat Riley would start Oquinn IMHO. I'm not worried about what a guy makes I just care about winning

Wait, you can do that? Take something fanciful and add it to the arrangement mix and it's an automatic legit thing to say?
How about, we don't really count Hawks, Cavs or Spurs cause they are like top 3 in the league and we shouldn't win those games anyway. That way the Knicks are 2-1?
Bucks were without Parker for most of last year, so really the Bucks were without 1 starter, same as the Knicks.

robin lopez is more willing to shoot then oquinn but oquinn has more range.
does anyone remember how Koq was abused in the SA game? He really has a hard time guarding big men in the post.
mreinman wrote:does anyone remember how Koq was abused in the SA game? He really has a hard time guarding big men in the post.
I think a lot of Aldridge's points came against KOQ when KP was on the bench.
I think he would be more suitable guarding a 5 than a quicker 4, but he is not the defender that Lopez or KP are.
I don't even know why we're debating this. I see no reason to make any changes to our starting frontcourt. They have not been the problem at all. If anything, it's our starting frontcourt that's made it less difficult for our 2nd Unit to help keep us competitive in games. If it ain't broke, don't break it. Adjust the starting backcourt. Start from there and see what happens.
RoLo is not an issue. Defensively, he is struggling because he has to cover the weakness of the backcourt; specifically, when Calderon is on the floor
not only did Koq not start but Seraphin more than doubled his minutes. Koq played 3 minutes in the first half.

Sigh!
. SMDH at the unnecessary panic. RoLo has been a starting C on a team that made the playoffs in the West. You would think there would be some patience and a sense of perspective about this early point in the season. We all love KOQ but he's still developing and is fine in the role he has right now.

ROLO was fantastic today and had a HUGE HUGE offensive rebound at the end of the game.
I can't for the life of me understand how this guy continues to get almost everything wrong. EVERYTHING! But hey ... I KNOW that DWill should get 24.54 minutes per game. KOQ should start over Rolo? ARE YOU FUKKING KIDDING ME? KP should come off the bench, play center and only shoot from 12 feet in? Yes - SMDH
He (Roll) has played well this last 2 games.

Yes, and we just saw Henson go off against him too. He is good back up that has a particular set of skills. With Lopez and O'quinn I am reall surprised that the knicks didn't try to get an athletic big instead of Serephin.
back to Kyle. I think him and Porzi need to trade 10-15 lbs. He also needs to learn not to stay on his feet and use his reach instead of jumping at every fake.

Seraphin stinks and is a stupid player. Not my type of player.
