NBA Rookie Stat Leaders

http://www.insidehoops.com/nba-rookie-st...

NBA Rookie Stat LeadersNBA rookie stat leaders for the 2015-2016 season. Rookies are first-year NBA players, and the vast majority of them usually receive limited playing time in supporting roles. So, NBA rookie stats tend to feature a few big-minute players, while the rest mostly sit on benches, playing sparingly.

We update NBA rookie stat leaders every few days during the season.

These are "unqualified" NBA rookie stat leaders. Usually, only "qualified" leaders are shown ("qualified" = players have to have played a minimum amount of games in order to be included), but for rookies we prefer to see everybody, even if a player has missed games due to injury or other reasons.

Thanks for sharing.

Porzingis has surprised everyone with what we thought he would do best in his rookie year, and what he would struggle with.

He's had in immediate impact banging in the paint, scoring and rebounding with put-backs.

He's still struggling with the efficieny but that will come when his timing develops naturally.

I much rather have a 7'1" big man struggle with shooting than with what a big man should be doing.

As of now I think we have the 2nd best player from this draft. I see that franchise talent in year 1.

yeah man, he is struggling at what should be considered his featured strength and excelling at spots where everyone questioned or thought would take years to come. That's awesome.

And its not like the guy can't shoot, as he's nearly at an 81% clip at the strike. I'm just seeing rushed and at times off balance shots which are impacting his FG%.

I don't think its a long term problem at all.

Knixkik @ 11/9/2015 1:51 PM
The free throw percents are what impress me. Here are 2 guys who are part of our future starting lineup and we never have to be concerned about their ability to knock down free throws at 80% or higher clip.

The numbers show that KP is a complete player, IMO...just verifies what we've been seeing with out own eyes through 7 games.

McConnell has been a big surprise.

Funny, I watched an Arizona game or two to evaluate Stanley Johnson, and came away being impressed by McConnell, but figured he did not have the athletic ability to hold his own. Johnson was terrible in the games I saw.

Have not really watched Philly play...Is he as good as the numbers tell us he is?

OK4, and to a lesser extent, Mudiay, really worked on their FT shooting.

Surprised at OK4's rebounding numbers, given the minutes he's playing

Have not watched one game of Philly... but decent stats for a player on a really bad team?

not sure about that. No excuse for those rebound number and the kid is an awful defender. I have so many issues with this guys game (and I have watched many philly games).

The kid was the most ready prospect coming out and I think that this is pretty much what he is. A guy who can score near the basket, weak rebounder, very little defense. These were all knocks on his game coming out.

Of course he will/can get better and it would help him if he was not on such a crappy team but maybe on a good team, he would be a lot worse with out all these priceless NBA minutes.

Maybe its just me but I really don't like his game. He also may be forever know as the guy that was drafted before the super KP.

yellowboy90 @ 11/9/2015 6:58 PM
It good to see Okafor shooting Fts so well(well for him). I am surprised at how few Ft attempts Towns have though. Porzingis is a lot like Durant right now in that his skinny body shows fouls well.

yes that was not expected ... near 70%

We got Grant for Tim Hardaway Jr!

Many said it at the time but it was a BRILLIANT move by Phil. As Jerian improves it will be even more evident how good of a deal that was.

still can't believe that atlanta made that trade. that was a fireable offense IMHO.

I think McConnell is the player he was commenting on, not OK4.

Yeah, but I guess I would give him the benefit of the doubt. Savvy little ball player...doing the same things he did in college.

Not sure of how he is as a perimeter defender, and he sure as hell has not taken many shots given the fact that he's almost played 30MPG, but the assists are pretty impressive, and his steals are high.

Not sure the assists are pick and roll related, or from penetrating and dishing.

Have not seen any of their games, either. I'm going to have to watch a couple of their games.

JrZyHuStLa @ 11/10/2015 7:45 AM
"Porzingis is one of only two NBA players currently leading their team in rebounds, blocks, and steals (Andre Dummond). Porzingis also joined an elite group (Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Tim Duncan, Lamar Odom, Blake Griffin) to combine for 80+ points and 60+ rebound in their first seven career games. Additionally, he has posted three double-doubles in the seven outings this year."

Mentioned in the same breath as Shaquille and Tim.

Didn't expect it this early.

I definitely like Geant a lot more then THJ. Grant is a cerebral guard who is far more advance in all areas of the game than THJ
