Does it occur to anyone that maybe Melo just wants to be in NY no matter what?

thats an assumption not a fact. I think melo like everyone else wants to win. He ain't winning here.

Everyone doesn't just want to win.

Gasol stayed in Memphis because he likes living in and playing for Memphis. LOTS of prime professional athletes have stayed or gone to a destination NOT because it gave them the best chance to win.

Melo signed in NY 16 months ago when it was perfectly obvious Chicago and Houston were better "win" options.

His actions suggest he just wants to be in NY.

Gasol has been winning in Memphis. Who else?

Do you think he stayed there because it gave him the best chance to win a title?

Do you think Miami was a better place for Bosh to win than Houston? If he thought so, man was he wrong.

he was winning enough to not have enough of a reason to leave. They are a perennial playoff team.

2014-15 doesn't count? They were well out of postseason position the day he got hurt.

Leaving is not easy and as soon as you go to another team, you are not a lifer. Its hard to be a lifer if your team is not winning.

Melo is already not a lifer since he was not drafted by NY so to me its a no brainer and IMHO inevitable.

If you believe players value being lifers, isn't it possible players value where they live?

People flock to live in NYC because they dream of living in NYC.

Maybe that holds true for Melo? His actions suggest it be a consideration.

You are making an argument for him staying and maybe he will but I am just making an argument based on precedent.

again I ask you, name the player who stayed that was similar to his situation.

And again I'll answer Bosh. If he thought we was going back to a team that would content for an EC title, then he was an idiot and as it turns out, wrong.

he already won.

another one please.

He already won?

Okay, how about Carmelo Anthony 16 months ago?

Oh right, he did that just to get more money. There's always a catch.

Since you're involving precedent, can you name a guy who engineered a trade to a big market (that happened to be the market he was born), signed again with that team as a free agent despite there being poor odds of making the postseason right away and better options, asked for and got a full no trade clause, and then later asked for a trade away from that team because he hadn't won a championship, and received it to a contender of his choice?

why always the antagonizing tone? right out of the gate?

I have addressed you pretty calmly, no? You think that I am attacking melo or something?

easy ...

why don't you add that the player that I choose also needed to have played for the cuse for exactly one year?

I named you three players. You can disagree with my choices of Gasol, Bosh and Melo for various reasons and we can have a discussion of them, but to dismiss them all and ask for another example is somewhat antagonistic, if you're being honest.

I answered already.

Gasol = homer who has won for many years and has played in many playoff games. Karl Malone like
Bosh = won in Miami. Left toronto because everyone leaves toronto (bad comp) he is playing with house money
Melo = left his first team already, says fuk NY so he is not thrilled (perhaps), is 31 in the decline and REALLY wants to win now. Barkley going to Houston is somewhat similar.

What are the chances that Melo will be traded in your opinion if the knicks are 500 at the all start break and / or 500 or less to finish the season?

I would bet 6-7 : 1 that he does not finish here. You?

First of all, Gasol is eight months younger than Melo and has played in 13 less postseason games.

Is the fact he's never played for another team (though not the team he was drafted) that much of a factor when the question is where a player wants to play for reasons other than pursuing championships?

I think Gasol likely didn't even consider another team because Memphis is home to him as opposed to some idea that isn't even under this control as I don't believe he has a NTC.

You really believe never playing for another team is Gasol's prime priority?

.500 at the ASB? Like you I'll make up a number that sounds right and isn't based on any odds analysis, but I'm say 150:1.
