I was annoyed when I read that Porzingis ended up taking that due to a broken play- I thought finally Fisher had seen the light. This obsession with Melo taking every last shot has to stop- teams are ready for it. We now have Gallo who can take and make final shots, Porzingis and Afflalo. Draw up something imaginative that takes advantage of these that the opposing defense isn't expecting.

Somebody here using logic!!! Yes draw up a dam play. If not KP, use him as a decoy then dish off to Afflalo or Galloway off a curl.

Thanks for finding this video. I watched it several times on MSG. This isn't the best angle, but when he makes the swing move the ball gets poked and he loses control then gets forced into the corner. I actually thought he was going to just turn it over live.
I understand the anger with the play call and completely agree with that, but let's not let it blind you. He didn't "dribble into the corner" (Turn and run there).

Regardless of if it was Melo or KP or anybody else on the roster, a low percentage shot was coming.

Isn't broken plays set up for plan b, c, d??

So if KP was not able to get to the screen, was it not then an option?

It doesn't have to be a low percentage shot though, right? You have Galloway shooting 62% from 3, Afflalo having a decent game, KP one of the best mid range shooters the Knicks have, and with 24 seconds virtually an eternity have Melo shoot a contested fadeaway in the corner over a taller defender...

It's a dumb play call, end of story. Better options were available.

Melo could not break free, so KP took the shot from the low pass at his knees instinctively and swished it.

Melo was obviously option A on the play, and KP made himself available to Lance's inbounds pass.

Agreed. All I'm saying is how they ran it will result it a low percentage shot regardless of who had the ball. If you give somebody the ball 25FT away and they are already dribbling with 10 sec on the clock and no outlet options, you will get a lot of poor percentage shots. It happens to often and we need to change this.

Yea it happened under Woodson too the one time the play to get Melo the ball 25ft away didn't work. Unfortunately it wound up in JR's hands 25ft away. The 1 or 2 circus buzzer beaters JR hit was when Melo was injured in the bench and the team was able to play loose down the stretch
