Knicks · O'Quinn last night vs. Cavs (page 1)

nychamp @ 11/14/2015 7:52 AM
When he first entered the game I noticed immediately that he looked sluggish, disengaged, ultra-low energy. Not what we've seen from him usually. No hustle or energy, I was frustrated and pissed watching it. After a few minutes upon returning from a time out, I saw Fisher had taken him out, and I was glad. KOQ did not return. Any word on what was happening with Kyle last night? Just looked not ready to play.
JesseDark @ 11/14/2015 8:07 AM
I was wondering why h didn't play more. I had to check the boxscore, saw he only played 3 minutes. The entire second unit rotation is a little off lately.
gunsnewing @ 11/14/2015 8:44 AM
Didn't his father pass recently? He's been sluggish the last few games
nychamp @ 11/14/2015 9:00 AM
His father passed during or before the preseason, I believe.
herkyJerky @ 11/14/2015 10:18 AM
Yeah, I mentioned that in another thread. He may be experiencing some serious depression. His dad used to travel to watch a lot of his games, so he would be there a lot of times. Now that he's in New York, his hometown, and his dad is not there when you would normally expect he would ALWAYS be there... yeah it might be messing with his head a bit.
holfresh @ 11/14/2015 10:33 AM
Admundson took his minutes..LeBron took the ball coast to coast on LT and OQ could have slowed him down at the foul line...OQ fouled him and got benched..
clyderules @ 11/14/2015 10:35 AM
Koq was looking terrible. Fisher did the right thing. Slow, out of position, bad hands, fumbling rebounds, not getting back on defense.
crzymdups @ 11/14/2015 10:38 AM
Yeah, O'Quinn seems out of it compared to the guy who started pre-season and the regular season. He had double figure rebounds in 3 of 5 pre-season games and then the first two regular season games. He also may have been getting more time while KP was out and RLopez was recovering from that mystery injury in pre-season.

The bench is sort of a mess the past few games. I almost wonder if Galloway should move to the starters and Calderon should run the second unit to give them more consistency.

Yeah and it's been more than just this past game too. Disheartening.

WaltLongmire @ 11/14/2015 10:42 AM
He's not the guy we saw early on, and yeah, the energy and desire are missing.

No idea what the issue is. If his dad died prior to the pre-season, its hard to believe that is the issue now because he had a number of decent games earlier in the year.

Strange.

holfresh @ 11/14/2015 10:46 AM
Maybe this is his MO..He got benched in Orlando for half the season...Maybe it's an effort thing..
ChuckBuck @ 11/14/2015 10:48 AM
Dude lost his confidence already. Has to do with Fisher's unpredictable yo yo sub routine.

Until rotations and minutes are finally settled you're going to see uneven play from the bench.

The players you want are the guys who will give you 100% whether they play 30 minutes or 1 minute. I've seen enough of him to believe that he has the ability to contribute, whether or not he has the will to do it is another thing.

Right now it looks like Lou will be taking minutes from Seraphin and KOQ, and based on what I've seen on the court recently, I have no problems with this.

Sometimes these things have a weird way of lingering and getting worse, rather than better, as time moves along. But it is temporary and hopefully he snaps out of it soon, for his own good.

Nalod @ 11/14/2015 11:38 AM
These guys are human beings. There is 100 reasons why he might have not been into the game. Often we just call in sick.
Maybe he has someone in paris? A cold? Bad toe? Knee? Eye infect? endless possibilities.

But y'all have seem to figure it out, judge, and soon have trade scenarios and blame on Phil for signing.

How about it has to do with the sucky play of OQ?

If a guy can't take a bit of unpredictable rotation play, do you really want him on the team?

clyderules @ 11/14/2015 3:43 PM
He also leaves his feet on defense instead of using his length to stop shots. KP could teach him here.

Yeah, KOQ had pretty set minutes until he started playing horribly, not the other way around. When DWill and KOQ started sucking on D and also not scoring on O, Fish went looking around and guys like Lance and Lou got more minutes. Fish even went to Seraphin over KOQ for a little while, but thankfully that was short lived.

mreinman @ 11/14/2015 6:22 PM
can we stop blaming everyone else but him?

U r right, he is not. This might be the reason why Lou has seen minutes the last few games

KO is one player we can't afford not to play. He is by far the toughest front court dude we have. His motor and passion are contagious
