As said before the team is playing very competitive ball. They have been in all games but one, and had had the lead and a chance to win every game this yr but one. The defensive effort has been consistent. I love that Fisher has put a lot of focus on developing Kristap. Calling iso plays vs a guy like Davis and having KP attack Davis. Fisher hasn't been scared to go to the rook and let him go through growing pains in order to play vets and save his job. That's the beauty of knowing the Prez has your back and is part of the cohesion and new culture at the top. Though he has made some blunders like not having KP in crunch time for defense vs Bobcats.
While I like the way he has been developing KP. I don't see the same plan for developing Grant. While triangle is our main offense. Grants bread and butter is being a facilitator off the PNR. He isn't a good shooter at the moment. Going with a lane clogging lineup of O'Quinn and Seraphin looking to pound the ball inside and out is more suited for Calderons game then Grant's. I would like to see them give Grant the keys for stretches with a lineup of Lopez at Center to be the PNR guy. Think Grant and Lopez should be paired. And any other combination of shooters at the 4-2 of Williams, Affalo, Thomas, Galloway, Jose. This would put Grant in position of strength, allow him to build confidence, Give him and a rotation guys clear cut roles.
There was one lineup Fisher used which had if I remember correctly was really small and had Amundson, Thomas asthe frontcourt. And we were trying to run the triangle with Thomas getting a lot of the looks. Don't know what Fisher was look for with that.
PNR with Lopez is not that effective if neither is a feared shooter.
It might take another 10 full games to develop Greant.
Or, it might not happen.
The kid is in the rotation and getting minutes. As Jose plays better, his minutes are dropping a little.
Galloway is also playing better.
Bottom line is he was drafted in part for his potential. The kid has to shoot respectable in the NBA if he wants to stay.
I disagree with you Nalod, a good screen setter like Lopez will always make the PnR effective.

and if the defense sags what happens? You think defense fears RoPez's jump shot? Or grants?
Think for a moment the best PNR players. Stockton and Malone. both had great shots. Nash and Amare. Amare once he got his mid range jumper down he was unstoppable.
Tyson could not shoot but Felton could. Tyson was really quick and could fly. RoPez is not that kind of athlete. While awkward, he is a better offensive player.
I think a pick and roll with KP and or Melo would be more effective than one with ROLO.

Goal would be to spread the floor and allow Grant to do what he does which is get in the paint. He is also keen on finding open teammates. This is his skill sets, so the personnel should be one the provides him the space. Similar to Lin and Tyson.
It would be like a 2ndary offense. As well as getting Grant and others a clear cut role. Probably enhancing his development as well. But the main thing is that its needed at the moment.

I'm more looking at options when KP and Melo are on the bench getting rest.
Grant need work on his shot and he'll be great no matter what he does!!!

This is true, but that's down the road. I believe he can do well right now strictly on his ability to penetrate and dish if we set the table for him. Can't say running the offense through Lance Thomas is a better option.

To be great yes he will need to shot the ball for a high percentage but there are plenty pnr guards surviving in the league without a shot. Despite not having great numbers now he still gets to the line and finding players off penetration for them to score.
Jerian has the green light to call for a Drag Screen at any time. Also every time the ball is swung to the Pinch Post side of the floor you have an automatic 2 man game with Give n Go or PnR as an option among other things. Once players are on the court they are pretty much in control of the flow of the offense. This isn't a system where the coach calls the play every time down. Most of the work is done in practice so that the players can go out and just play using their instincts and brains. It's a player led system. The coach just gives the players the rules for how to function as a unit.

The thing I'm more looking at is the personel. He can call the drag screen but if KOQ and Seraphin or Lou is the frontcourt. Then the spacing isn't as ideal for a PNR.
One of the biggest parts of the win vs no was grant and Gallo closing the game ... Like I said when you have a pg who can break down the defense and get guys open shots when you have a lead in the fourth your more then likely going to win... The shot will come down the road.. Although his mid range in is pretty solid right now... Grant = our best pure pg right now and that's awesome .

If Grant will not be put in position when he must bring his shot he will never improve it.
It can be painful and can lose us some games but we must have him to go through growing pains.
Especially with things he have to improve.
This may not work but to find out we need to make him work in real game.

That's goes with practice over time. Right now we can put him in a role that can utilize his strengths. While helping is maintain an offensive flow throughout the game. While he works on improving his weaknesses. Confidence is huge in the NBA or sports in general. Build him up through his strengths. And again I'm looking at stretches of a game. Not looking to base our whole game plan around him.
