Here is a nice list:
http://hoopshype.com/2015/08/15/nba-free...Durant at Small Forward would be a dream. Wonder if he could actually fit here. Worried a bit about his health and this year will be a great test.
Mike Connley at PG would be great. I think we trade Jose if the opportunity arises and with his good play, I think we can. Sorry Jose, nothing personal.
Batum is another nice player. Good 2 way player, coming off a tough year.
Bring Timofey back home?
I think we have the chance to really assemble an extremely balanced team with one more max cat, but if not, with two more nice players, we can possible have the best combo of starters and bench in the NBA...

I think durant will either stay in okc or go to washington. Phil still needs to show he can recruit a big free agent
Would love to see the clippers broken up. Dwight Howard. Chris Paul. Only the best. Our role players are solid ole players. Lebron if Cleveland wins this year. Penetrating point.

This is not done over night and has to be done with precision. Durant is nice but he got foot problems and duplicates a position that won't be moved.
Last year was Aldridge, Monroe, DJordan, Gasol, all very flawed max'ish players, some of whom weren't just going to come.
Conely, Durant, Horford, Wade, Drummond, Whiteside, Noah, etc. Nice list. I would probably only max out Wade on a 2 year, definitely would max out Drummond.
You still have to build a team and getting other players to fill out a championship roster is necessary.
I'd want to max a guy who was still in his 20's at a position of need. Long term injuries would be a consideration.
Bazemore or Batum next year and Westbrook the year after? Bazemore is coming up on my radar more and more but I haven't seen him play at all, so just stats.

I think I want Batum - don't like the KD fit or potential for him to in street clothes for years.
Batum would give us great versatility at the 2 and 3 he also provides us the flexibility to either go big (Batum at PG) with AA at SG or small (Batum at SF) with Melo at 4.
I just think Batum gives us great balance and the ability to match up against almost any opponent.
What if gasol uses his player option to play with KP and Melo
KP,gasol,Melo,AA,Jose or Gallo

we have rolo, don't need gasol
we needs guards

True but who? Conley, d wade has a player option
Bazemore or Batum. Then Whiteside or Noah or Gasol. Conley or Wade. How about 2 of 3?

Pau? Dude is 35 going on 36 next season. I'd stay away.
Noah I may role dice on if the contract is right, his passing, defense, and never quit attitude is infectious. But the injuries are adding up and he's 30.
I'd prefer guys in their 20's who can grow with KP, Grant, Gallo.

I was thinking he was perfect for us a couple if days ago. Is he a free agent? I can't see him leaving.

He is a FA and I can see that he would leave possibly. He is still great.
Evan Turner can't shoot but he would be a nice ball mover in the tri.
And while guys want to go young understandably. If we can get the right amount of vets at lower wages like Nene and Joe Johnson maybe but would have to do more research on the fit. We could go the deep vet route Dallas took.
Come on now. Why would he leave a championship team?
clyderules wrote:Come on now. Why would he leave a championship team?
exactly. Plus he is signed for like $11M next year.
Gotta say i'm intrigued by Whiteside, if you're taking the KP/Gallo/Grant longview.
Plus, would free up O'Quinn and maybe even in the right circumstances, Lopez, to free up cap room to hunt for a guard. But I LIKE Lopez, I'm in no way pushing him out the door.
Not everyone with cap room will land free agents. O'Quinn and/or Lopez might have some trade value and/or just move the contract value to clear more cap.
Question should be, what do we need?... we have a good team. We need to identify the weaknesses and try to improve. I don't want to get just any player just because we have money. We all should have learned that lesson this past off season.
We could obviously use a upgrade at point guard, but calderon and Grant are holding it down nicely. We don't want to disrupt chemistry and we want guys that work hard and are smart and skilled like the group we currently have

Haven't seen much of Whiteside but my sense was that he is a hot head and needs to be managed as a player, ala a lesser JR. Don't think Phil would be interested in that type of personality in this situation.
