Knicks · First Post. Noticed a lot of dislike for Melo (page 2)

nixluva @ 11/22/2015 10:50 PM
People think I'm only positive and tho I am very positive what makes it worse is my battles with guys who are overly negative. I'm not just imagining this it's a very real thing. All summer I was battling this negativity and now most of those negative opinions have proved to be wrong and premature judgements. That's why I was preaching a little patience. Jose bashing, MELO bashing, Fish bashing etc. It was all over the top and full of impatience but now we can see that.

This is not to say negative comments are never warranted! My and many other's views were simply that it was too soon to be so critical and down on things. There's a long way to go and things could also go bad but why be pessimistic in advance?

Knicks, so far, have a much beter team chemistry. They have players that seem to be happy with their roles. Both very important ingredients for winning. not really most are happy with the team INCLUDING melo. However melo is getting older and coming off a injury so it may be better for him and the team if he takes a step back and becomes the number 2 guy

Who is number 1? You mean 12 games more or less can tell you something? I've seen many players come and go. I think we need to wait this season out. Ask KP who is number one and he will tell you Melo. End of discussion

KP is 7'3 and his shot will eventually be impossible to guard. It will be logical for him to be #1. But at the moment its better for him to slowly work into that as he isn't conidtioned yet to play 82 games at up to 30mins.

yes. KP is far from a number one option now. He may get a lot of points though.

Who knows if he ever gets it 100%. He has still managed to have his moments. Allow Fish time to keep coaching him up. Remember this is a process. Look at how LT is developing. People were killing the fact Fish was playing LT early on and now he's been a key contributor.

The summer was ridiculous. Media and posters speculating on how they thought Melo was being a bad teammate. I think fans of ny teams need to have more of a filter when it comes to what is being said/printed in the media.

who cares how the media mis-potrays him? Let him show everyone on the court and that should shut them all up. Can't remember a star that needed more defending that melo other than maybe arod.

He is playing MUCH better defense this year so he will not hear about that anymore while he keeps this up.

He has had some good passing games where he got good / fair props (for just being moderately better but its a start)

He has had some bad games which he has not been killed for (yet). Let's see who will be the consistent melo.

yes. KP is far from a number one option now. He may get a lot of points though.

Freeing him up to float around the offense also exploits his ability to score from anywhere. And will constantly make him a threat no matter where he is on the court or what plays have been drawn up. He might even do more damage this way. Only in crunch time or when the offense has stalled and we need to gain some momentum.

though his is a very willing passer and makes many many team passes a game, he is not a facilitator at this point.

MOSTLY WRONG! It's clear this team developed some good personal chemistry this summer and care for each other. MELO was a proponent of the good vibes that set the tone. They play with and for each other. This is the most important thing.

KP and all the new guys are getting along well and playing better and better as a group. They shut out most of the negative Media noise and hung tough thru the losses. It all started this summer with MELO as part of bringing them together.

Some of the threads this summer were ridiculous. I root for the Knicks. The stuff being written about speculation and assumptions that were wrong was over the top. It is hard not to react when guys on the team you root for are getting killed for no reason. The Leadership 101 thread and Araton thread were ridiculous but seemed to bring out a lot of passion for some posters. Not sure why some knick fans are trying to find ways to bash a knick. It doesn't make sense to me.

I hadn't noticed any dislike of Melo.

If anything, this forum seems like one big happy family of Melo lovers.

Go Melo Go! You're the best thing to happen to the Knicks.

Random thought but if the refs rightfully gave KP that buzzer beater game winner we would be 9-5 right now and 4th seed. Crazy!

the history of the knicks since dolan took over has been one abomination after another with only a couple of patches of decent basketball. to my way of thinking the entire organization but especially its main protagonists are guilty until proven innocent. fifteen years of dolan will do that to even the most long-standing fans.

but hiring jackson was the best "decision" dolan ever made as the owner of the knicks. last year was a throwaway year and i had no real vested interest, just like the first two years of walsh and d'antoni. dolan's respect for jackson outweighs his fragile ego, weak mind, and low character.
