Knicks · Team report card after 15. (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/24/2015 1:24 AM
Team intangibles--A simple we have played hard and with heart especially on defense--the effort is there and we have hit big shots. The offense is heal together with smoke and mirrors right now.
Carmelo--B Hes played well and has moved closer to a team game but his overall consistency and efficiency has slipped.
Kristaps--A+ Nothing needs to be explained here
Jose C --B I bthced on him and hes been steady for the team
Lopez---B- I want more I want the 12 footer where is the 12 footer? Good intangibles and D negated by porous offense and slightly porous rebounding
Lance Thomas--A How much more get we get out of him. Hes been an A
Galloway---A- up until tonight hes been a knock down shooter can he expand his driving game?
Affalo--B OK but needs to get better his injury may have slowed his game progress,
D Williams C- boy what can I say here--I feel its partly on Derrick partly on the coach. In pre season I had thoughts of a third scorer capable of 20 points any given night and a 6th man of the year type. The coach has just buried him brought him down and Im not sure it was wise--we need him we need him ti play freely
Kyle Oquinn--C Again is Fischer killing him whats the direction here I had much higher hopes
Sasha--C- doesnt matter anyway
Seraphin---C- had a couple of moments but overall disappointing
Jerian Grant--D has been disappointing Has no in game jumpshot and his lack of break down speed is not there to compensate right now.
Admundson--B+ he gives all he can and his pretty good at what he does
Early Inc

Fischer B--He gets an A for the teams effort and win-L but I have to wonder if he is trying to win the battle while losing the war with some management of guys.

I can agree with most there, I'd give Jose a solid B right now.
But Grant is no D. He doesn't have much of a jump shot but how many rookies are even getting minutes? C+ and B if he starts hitting that shot. He gets into the pain constantly and is always able to draw contact. Makes good passes most of the time and is constantly able to run the team. Got to hit that shot though.

I agree pretty much with the OP except Amundson at a B+ is high. More like a B-/C+. Yes his effort is at a B+ level, but he misses layups and has surprisingly had too many defensive lapses, and can't hit a free throw to save his life. Overall the result isn't a B+.

Agree with your assessment of Grant but D is a bit low, maybe a C is more like it. He's a rookie after all, but he surely needs to find a few more tricks and goto moves. He is very predictable and limited moving the ball and can't hit any shots. The potential is clear though.

Your assessment of Melo is fair, but attitude-wise it would be higher than a B. He has really shown a willingness to share the ball and get teammates involved. He has also been mostly an engaged an active defender, much better than in previous years. Overall a B though since he hasn't settled in to hitting shots consistently.

Agree with most, but Sasha has been a Z-.

Can't remember at any point this season if he even contributed to a win, and his win shares reflect this (-0.043)

Now that you mention Early. He showed a lot of flashes preseason. The 2nd unit needs a spark. Doubt they would deactivate Sasah though.

I'd give Fisher a C+. Yes the wins, but I can't help but wonder why Calderon is still starting, let alone playing now with Afflalo back. Williams & OQ are, IMHO, mismanaged. Sure, there might be elements of the game they lack, but they gave flashes of real ability. And they're gone.

I think Grant is better than a D. I can't give Jose a B.

Maybe they can sit one of their three off the bench bigs who all suck?
