The east is actually 38-33 against the west this year. It's an amazing turnaround. Last year the east was 187-263 against the west. Part of it must be all those higher draft picks in the east are finally peaking. It looks like we might have an easier time making the playoffs in the west than the east! There are actually only 4 teams above .500 in the west and 10 in the east right now.
Yea figures when we finally look like we are building a real team he East becomes stronger than the West. The West has dominated for the majority of the past 16yrs! Oh well at least it will keep push usto keeping making wise decisions. Gone are the days of sub .500 teams making the playoffs as 7-8 seeds
I'm fine with it. Will force us to battle down the stretch of the regular season each and every game, especially if we're competing for the 7th or 8th seed. Good learning experience for our youths.
Wanna be the best, gotta beat the best. Sets us up for year 2 of the renovation.
It will be good for us to face tough competition on our way to contention. Once we make the Finals (not sayin when that will be) we will have emerged through a gauntlet of tough competition. That's a blessing as prep for Finals.

This may be the season where 45 wins(phils number last season) gets you in the playoffs in the east. Portland, Houston and the pelicans took a major step backwards

Way I see it, Warriors and Clev are elite. Second Tier is SAS and then Below that is Chicago. ATL is slipping.
This is years of the last CBA now starting to take hold and it does. Cleveland got Leborn to come back and had the draft choices to get Love and Kyrie.
Imagine if they did not wiff on Bennett! T-Wolves are the future and if Russell is no star they are screwed unless they nail a good pick this year. And they should.
Warriors got lucky when they singned Curry after his injuries to a below market contract. They can sign Durant outright this summer. Scary.
Make no bones about it, knicks have apparent franchise talent in KP. As we been saying for year you have to draft them. Given the current parity in the NBA and incentive for players to stay with incumbent team its even more so.

With GSW, it would probably still be harder to make it out of the west than the east.

Giannis is just a freak of nature that can play on both ends. The kid Is playing great and is only getting better and bigger. To me he is like a taller version of "Good" Josh Smith when he was younger.

I did forget Wall at the same time I have a feeling he isn't going to be on the Wiz in 5 yrs. Plus he relies a lot on a lot of athleticism and may be trending down by that time. Parker hasnt shown anything since he hasn't really played much that says he is a franchise talent. Gianni's is a freak but mor of a Marion esq complimentary player.
Having KP also opens up possibilities that a guy like Butler if the Bulls start going down hill would want to team with a KP.

I remember Parker looking like a ROY candidate before a season ending knee injury, and he's been hurt this year with another injury as well. Not ready to call it yet.
A month later this still seems to be the case. I'm surprised by how quick and large the change has been from last year. It's going to make getting into the playoffs hard.
