It seams to me that Carmelo has seen more double team then anyone else I have watched this season. Granted that at times, he attracts it by holding on to the ball for too long, but it looks as if coaches around the league are making it a point to suffocate Carmelo every time he touches the ball to force someone else to beat them.
Solution:
What I believe needs to happen to mitigate this issue, just so Carmelo can finally find the breathing room to operate is to use him as a point Forward. Run the offense through him by Asking him to be strictly the ball handler. He can then pick and chose the spot on the court to go to work. Last night's game proved that when he is guarded one on one, he still has the strength and legs to finish plays at a high percentage. He went to work when he was guarded solely by Winslow and feasted within 18 feet from the basket. He is distributing the ball beautifully this season; thus, he proves to be able to be a passer. Fisher just has to stay on him to run the plays.
A lethal Carmelo can make us all Knicks fans proud
Can't believe this thread hasn't been shredded and locked yet.
Nice thoughts though.
Well, give the guy credit, he started the thread at exactly 4:20pm.

I think with KP out there, the solution is honestly pretty easy. And we have Jose and AA who can shoot as well.
Easy answer, Melo runs the pick and pop with KP. No double guaranteed.
Next question.

Wait, isn't it KP runs the pick and pop with Melo??
Can't forget who the offense should run through.

Interchangeable, although running it with KP as the shooter would be more efficient.

Wonder if it'd be even more efficient with Afflalo, since it'd be better of Melo wasn't on the team and all..?

Hey, you said it! Didn't come from my hatin' mouth.
Expect we will (and have) see KP doubled at times, too. When KP is into his 1/1 shot I think he loses sight of the court, just like Aflalo and Melo.
Guys have to spread out wisely, or cut to an open area if appropriate.

A funnier response wouldn't require ignoring grammar to make sense.

Wow so witty! You really are a dime a dozen. So flattered to have my own stalker.

As I often say, I know my own limitations and do not attempt to compete with the visionary originality of being a New York Knicks fan fixated on criticizing Carmelo Anthony on the Internet.
You sir, are a pioneer.
melo will get double and triple teams less if he passes more (and quicker). Simple as that.
anyone of us who have played against a player who does not like passing knows that he just leave your man and go double. Chances are that he will not find your man and still try to get the shot off.

The funnier thing is Mr. Groundbreaker used to be one of the biggest Melolovers on the board. Ah well, maybe it's the change in meds, maybe it's something to do with blood levels changing as one ages....who knows.
There has been so much Haterade provided here the past couple of years, it was bound to have some impact.

Yes, and I owned up to it. No shame in my game.
I've seen the light, what can I say. Everything's clearer now, no lens fogged by homerism or Youtube Melo threads.
He is what he is...which sucks for us Knicks fans. Our only hope is he sustains some of that goodwill he's building in Year 5, so that KP can grab the reins sooner rather than later, as Melo takes a back seat.

Or perhaps have a propensity for larger irrational swings than most.

Because that tactic is always so effective.
