He is the one PG that could really thrive in the triangle. He is a pass first PG, low key, a hell of a defender, and can shoot. My ideal PG is Westbrook, but I can't see this dude playing for another team.
Conley
Afflalo
Carmelo
KP
RoLo
That could be a formidable/championship contender starting 5
Give it a shot…
What's your proposal?

I believe he will be unrestricted next year. He will probably command a 20 million a year contract. Will he be worthy of that money???
so we're getting conley for nothing? good idea, im sure memphis will be all over it.

Not exactly what I am proposing. I would like to hear your ideas. This dude is underrated; thus, he might be looking to play for a big market

As I say, why don't you start with yours.
Knicks have 14 players and 2018 and beyond first rounders to trade. Not a lot of variables.
What do you think is a package the Grizzzlies will consider?
Conley is worth more to the Grizz than other teams. He's BFFs with Gasol. He's been underpaid there for a couple years. Memphis is paying and keeping him. He's a good player and would be a great fit here. Not for the money he's going to command though.

To manufacture a trade for a stud like Conley, we will have to find a couple of trade partners.
Calderon, Early, and Seraphin would be my starting point. By midseason a lot of teams might be looking to trade a viable chip in attempt to rebuild; that will be the time to make a move I suppose. Let us all hope that Memphis lose a lot of games to force them to push the restart button
Not saying we do this, but if we could sign Whiteside as a free agent and then trade Lopez and more for a very good+ guard who can also defend, we would be a terror. Actually, if we could sign Whiteside, we could use Lopez and change to get a pretty good player and upgrade our team. Not sure we move Lopez so quick after the trade though, might not sit over well with players, be it depends on what we turn into.
We have to bring in some really good players still.

I agree with you fishmime. Strange of things have happened in this league. I am just Hoping and praying that we can get lucky

I don't think Riley will ever let go of Whiteside. He is grooming this kid to become the next Alonzo Morning

He will be a completely unrestricted free agent. Riley is not the head of a huge Costra Nostra family, lol.
We can sign Whiteside free and clear and build something dominant.
Would probably have to be a lot of draft picks involved. Im guessing that Melo has two more seasons where he can play at a very high level. Might be a good idea to sign some vets to short term deals (at the right price) who also appear to have a couple of years left in the tank. Their salaries would come off the books sooner than breaking the bank on a star, if one is available.
KP by then would hopefully be a franchise player, the team would have cap room and draft picks to build a serious contender around him, as Melo's salary comes off the books.
no...next question. lol
he will get close to a max contract next yr. very underrated PG
We have such a need for veterans PG play, I simply can't see anyone other than Conley that we can use. CP3 and Westbrook are the top dudes I really want; but as we know, the top dudes don't really ever want to put up with playing for the Knicks.

I think it'll just go unfulfilled. Conley doesn't want out and the Grizz ain't trading him. Plus the Knicks don't have the assets. Kind of end of story?

Riley has his ways:::)))). He almost always find ways to trick guys to come and play for him. Besides no other team will be able to offer Whiteside more money than Miami. Why would he leave?

Martin, who do you think the Knicks should go after as a PG? We need one desperately.

I don't think this is the case. Miami is in a little bit of a pickle, they can only use cap space to resign Whiteside, can't go over. So, they gotta resign Wade. They'll give Roberts away for free. Probably won't resign Deng.

This is not the year to worry about making headway in the playoffs, it's about maxing out KP and Grant and Gallo potential. It's about seeing what they have in Seraphin, DWill, Thomas, Rolo. It's about making the Triangle work much better than it has.
There is no doubt that the Knicks are desperate for a PG, but they aren't desperate enough to give away future assets willy-nilly. If a no-brainer deal comes up, then yes.
Seems like you are in panic mode even though the Knicks are outpacing any realistic goal, they are 8-7 while playing the 5th toughest schedule in the league.
This is a grow year, not a must-win year.

You might be right, but since teams will be allowed to spend more money next year, I am sure Riley will find ways to offer Whiteside a package he can't refuse. Specifically, if he is told that he will be the main man to replace Wade as the face of the franchise. Tax free money, and stardom can be an enticing way to trap players.
Deng can easily be replaced, and will most likely be gone. Bosh and Dragzic will more than likely be the only big contracts that will occupy the cap space
