Hose-A's only saving grace is 3 point shooting or jump shooting in general. Fredette can match or probably better it.

jose shoots better than 40% from three. Don't think that jimmer will be anywhere close.

Jimmer is a career 38% 3 point shooter. That's pretty close, and though not a great defender a definite improvement over the human turnstile that is Hose-A.

Win-Win.

Not really a player I can root for right now. A player with Jimmer's career avgs, bottom of the league defensively, not willing to alter his game from what Ive read, isnt the kind of player I want on the Knicks. I would sign N'Dour in his hospital bed over Jimmer. If he plays at MSG and makes a difference I'll be pleased, but I dont see that happening.

I'd have to say I want Jose gone just as much or more then most... Jose would be a nice back up putting up the numbers he has of late... Jimmer has always been able to score.. He probably is a upgrade over Jose just based on age and overall talent... But on the d league Knicks he has what he's been waiting for since he's been in this league... He's finally The number one option jimmer is going to tear up the d league... It's weird it had to come to the d league for jimmer to finally get the ball..

This kid has supreme skill but in the NBA sac town wanted him to be a spot up shooter 4th option. Three point specialists. Jimmer is a scorer who needs the ball in his hands to be effective... It's like telling Steph curry we don't want you to bring the ball up and set up the offense, curry like other pg's with supior scoring ability need the ball in there hands to be effective...

Jimmer is no different ... Let's bring this kid along and get his confidence up to where it should be... This kid can do it all, pass, shoot, score, get to the line, and the hoop.. The kid got funked being drafted by arguably the worst franchise in NBA history. And sac town like most, like to stereotype they thought little white boy must play Kerr Paxton role, when he is nothing like Paxton or Kerr...

Jimmer is a ball dominate pg just like curry can do it all, he just never got his chance to be the number one guy or just a pg who has the ball in his hands...

I see jimmer having a huge impact on the Knicks in the future if given a chance to be who he was always supposed to be, the man with the ball in his hands to make himself better as well as all of his teammates

No lol one can hope! But he plays the same style and I think has been waiting the whole time to get the ball and be a ball dominate guard. Something he was great at,at byu .. I wouldn't be surprised if the dleague boosts his confidance to become the player he was supposed to be... Imagine if he was drafted by the Warriors like Steph curry and was given the rains to run wild from day one like curry.. I think If that were the case in jimmer's career I think he would not be playing on the d league.. He might be a star in the making.. And the Knicks might have struck gold again in the d league

Jimmer can't do what he did yesterday in the NBA.
Delusional to think otherwise and to think he is better than Jose.

Jimmer is 26, Calderon, 34...there is not even a double digit difference between their ages. Folks are making it seem that Jimmer is an undrafted discovery. Guy has a track record of mediocrity so far.

Find it hard to believe that a Knicks team with Anthony, KP, and now Aflalo, is going to want to play with a 6ft tall ball dominant guard who is not known for making his teammates better or playing D.

I might be wrong, but I think there's a reason why he's been on 3 teams in the 5 years he's been in the league and the fact that he was not even on an NBA team's roster at the start of this year might be another red flag.

If he could do what he did in his first Westchester game in shorter minutes on the parent team, you could see his value as a change of pace guy, but he's yet to do such things in the NBA so far, so why should we believe he can do it with the Knicks.

I watched the second half of the W Knicks, and was surprised that they let him play the way he did- he seemed to be putting on a show for the fans who probably came out to see him, not Allan Houston, or the Knicks' assistant coach who was watching the game.

I can't believe that Phil, Mills, and Fisher are huddled together discussing how Jimmer will revitalize the Triangle and the Knicks' offense.

clyderules @ 12/1/2015 4:35 PM
We need a guy who can shoot like that. Jose shoots well but the number of shots is so low that it has no impact. Jimmer loves to shoot. Jimmer loves to penetrate. Jimmer loves to score!

I don't think they would have brought him in if they didn't think they could re-shape his game a little. He's got one all-world skill, I think he's worth working with for a bit. Not sure where the animus is coming from.

meloanyk @ 12/1/2015 4:39 PM
Pass. If Phil wanted to take a long shot on a short shoot first pg then Knicks could have picked up Bryce Cotton who is younger, quicker, athletic and diversified than Jimmer. I actually wish Fredette would be on another NBDL team because he offers little help to development of others besides being an attraction

No animus...just wondering whether the crumpled $20 bill I just found on the street might not be the real thing.

I'm also not a supporter of over-hype...I even cringe when I see all the stuff coming out about KP by writers and "analysts" who are amazed and gushing about him because they were too stupid to actually do the research they should have done prior to the draft.

Jimmer is a guy who has been overvalued since he came out of college. Could not stick with Sacramento, the team that drafted him, and the Pelicans, a team he played with for a season, chose fellow journeyman Ish Smith over him.

He's actually someone who needs to play in Europe for a year, since he would not improve his game in China playing in their shoot-first offense enabling league.

I've watched a number of Westchester games, and they usually move the ball around quite well. Summers was a gunner before getting injured, but he was not a guy who would dribble around for 10 seconds looking for a shot.

Their new coach has a history with the Spurs, and I think he was hired because they felt he could bring a little of that franchise's unselfishness to Westchester. This will not be the case if Jimmer plays like he did yesterday.

One thing you also have to remember...the NY Knicks have no control over him at all. They might get to seem him practice, because the two teams work out in the same complex, I think, but as we already know, any team can sign him at any time while he is playing in Westchester- he is not our "property" in any way.

Hope he works out, but I am don't expect him to do anything with the big club... although I'll be very happy if I'm wrong about him.

I'll go further and say that he will hurt the development of guys like Trice and Saunders, who I have much more of a rooting interest in because they were with us in pre-season.

You have to think that his value to the Westchester team is tied more to local fan support than it is to him being a player the Knicks hope to "develop."

We will see.

He's the perfect compliment to our second unit. As far as taking over for Jose, I don't see it. Jimmer is a team all by himself. Unfortunately, he's not starter material for this team, unless he's a SG. And I don't have any stats, but my guess is his shooting and scoring is lower as a SG. He needs the ball in his hands to be affective. I think the D league is a way to see who coaches can use his talent, within the triangle system. Once they know how to use him, they will bring him up and play a Gallo role. All those penetration layups he took would be potential drive and kick moves in the NBA, if he learns to adjust his game at the next level.

Chandler @ 12/1/2015 5:52 PM
He definitely comes with risks -- including the important one Walt mentions, i.e., will he hinder the development of others

There is a certain parallel to Dwill too -- highly rated out of college, hasn't yet fulfilled potential (and will he ever?)

Having said that, I think he is a calculated risk worth taking. Perhaps this is a wake up call, if you play the right way and in this system you have a future; if not...

We need to be aggressive in trying to build our talent base.

I really don't have a problem with Jimmer. This team is full of unselfish players and we lack anyone that can confidently create their own shots. Every team needs at least one breakdown or shot creating player who can score at will. None of our guards are really like Jimmer in that way. If you put him in the mix he'll take a couple of bad shots but you can live with that if he improves the teams unpredictability overall.

Remember Shved was kind of a nut but that wild card aspect to his game was needed. Teams didn't know how to deal with him and his wild drives to the basket. He would take a couple of bad 3's but he'd also keep a defense nervous. I see Jimmer in the same way. Right now we have times were the ball is being passed almost too much. No one wants to really shoot it cuz they aren't SHOOTERS. Jimmer has that mentality which not everyone has.

I think I agree. I only saw 10 minutes of yesterdays game but he definitely dominates the ball. Also, there was some speculation that the drafting of Jimmer was to fill seats because he is a local kid.
