The Knicks are not a win now team. The Heat are so would Riley consider a trade where I think Melo would be very happy. Melo for Winslow, Deng and number 1 pick. Heat get to make that push for another chip. The Knicks are 3-4 years away even with the deal.
I think Pat Riley would love this deal and Phil would too. It make to much sense for the Heat and it makes sense for the Knicks.
In due time, knicks would get a better deal for Melo for as of now, I don't think anyone in the league wants him. His contract too big. He's staying!

Eh, no contract is ever too big. See the Arenas trade, the Rashard Lewis trade, etc. Then we have the cap skyrocketing $50 million over the next 2 seasons. Anything is possible and Melo does still have value as the missing piece next to another star or two on a contending team. It wont be easy but certainly not impossible. Far from it.
deal would only need filler like Andersen and Undrih's expiring to work
BTW, Miami doesn't have a pick to trade until 2023

THis was talked about a few weeks ago and its one I'd do. NOt sure I'd even need a no. 1 pick if I think Winslow had the upside. I might even take Dragic instead of Deng. Somehow I do think Miami would need Jose.
Does this trade put Miami as a top 3 team in the east? If so, then you do the trade.

Think any Riley offer if interested would only be Dragic, Deng and Andersen for Melo and Calderon. Hurdles: Dragic cant be traded until after mid Jan and Melo would have to waive his no trade though he might do so to play with Wade and Bosh. Knicks get younger and more atheletic at pg, save $15 in 16- 17 as they shed Calderon $ for 16-17 as well as Dengs and Andersens and then save the diff of Dragic-Melo $8mil in 18 and 19. Dont think Knicks would take that offer unless they thought extra $ could feasibly be employed towards acquiring a Durant or Beal in 16-17 FA

+1 - No contract is ever too big. While the contract gets a lot of play on here, after last off-season,it's not even that bad of a contract and will be an upper-tier contract but not horrendous following this off-season.

SA paid aldridge and melo is a better player than him. The is still a market for Melo with that contract. Just may not receive the assets in return that we would like.
With melo's "NO TRADE CLAUSE" his desire to retire a knick, with him verbally stating he's not going anywhere, with phil jackson, dolan, and mills love affair with him.
Why do you folks fantasize about trades for melo.
You think labron left Miami strictly because he was home sick, then your not thinking clearly.

what if SA wanted to trade for him? Melo may want the opportunity to win, no?
It is possible that Melo may want out.
If Melo's NBA career ended today, he will be working next to Allan Houston in the Front Office. THAT'S how much he is loved in this organization....from top to bottom.
Melo is not leaving unless HE WANTS TOO, and from I've heard, he has no desire to play anywhere else. Folks need to accept that and move on....

He is loved like patrick ewing. Perhaps he can be an assistant coach for a middling team.
Melo will retire and will not work in the NBA. He will smartly continue to rake in lots of money with his brand.
Do you think Melo would restructure his contract if we could get a top star free agent that wanted to be here
fitzfarm wrote:Do you think Melo would restructure his contract if we could get a top star free agent that wanted to be here
is he allowed to do that? don't think so

The cap is about to blow through the roof, and you want him to take less
fitzfarm wrote:Do you think Melo would restructure his contract if we could get a top star free agent that wanted to be here
LOL. Is this a serious question? Or are you being facetious purposely.
Two years too late for a trade for a top ten pick who is showing something. Wrong side of 30.
Melo just had thanksgiving dinner with Bosh and Wade.... I could see Riley's stank on this one.
Deng, Dragic and Winslow for Melo and Calderón makes perfect sense.
Miami gets Bosh, Wade and Melo with Calderón and Whiteside. Calderón makes this work cuz he's not looking to score, just play his game.
Knicks get another guy to grow with Kristaps. Goran Dragic is miserable in Miami. He would get back to his Phoenix days scoring and passing the ball. Deng just gets waived.
Knicks could start Derrick Williams at 3, Kristaps at 4, Rolo, Affalo and dragic. Knicks actually get better.

No he isn't allowed to do that. The NBA has a strong union.

Im not trading Melo without Winslow coming back. I would only trade Melo if picks or high upside youth is coming back. You would have to because most likely a bad contract is coming back our way to match Melo's
