Why didn't the Knicks think of that??
Is that true? Then why did we spend 18mm on slow 7 footers?
I'm asking you a genuine question. You really, intentionally posted a topic suggesting the Knicks need a player who is a good scorer, defender, passer, and rebounder?
Umm yes--for the money we spent on the pivot--we did not get that. Im not a believer in guys with no post game Lopez has almost no post game and I have no clue what were doing with Oquinn but we spent 18mm on them combined.
In the future I think we need to make sure the player at the price range is more skilled faster and more athletic than what we bought.
So you really don't understand the player you are describing is a max player. That connection in your brain hasn't been made yet?
We spent our max money on KO--bench warmer and RL back up. Not my fault. Couldve drafted Bobby Portis at 21. Im looking under the radar--unless we have money to pay Al Horford AND he wanst to come here-- we need to take different avenues
What does what the Knicks spent cap space on have to do with it. Are you actually suggesting who the Knicks should acquire or indirectly complaining about moves they made.
Okay, you want a player that can score, defend, rebound and pass. Okay, great. Who's that exactly?
I think that if you spend 18mm $ on the post---R Lo and KO(those are the two who were singed long term) you must have evaluated that you were getting a maximum level player(output) between the two and its not even close to being the case. Lopez is just a piece that would be hard to trade now--only thing available for him is another teams POS. That means we accept poor value for a LOT of money spent. I mean we did spend what 30mm in free agency and we got one good player out of it. I dont think Phil wanted Porzingis and only luck is between us and a very shtty team. Lets thank god that Clarence Gaines(who has been over rated himself) just got this one right. I think a few of us wanted Porzingis more than Phil did. Carmelo didnt even want Porzingis--the dude wanted Trey Lyles although he can BS until the cos come home.
Okay, so I've asked three times now and gotten the same response. You just want to criticize the acquisitions made, you don't actually talk about who the player who can score, defend, pass and rebound you want the Knicks to acquire, who he is or who to get him.
Can I assume that's a fair assumption at this point?
???Let me be clearer.
What we need to get better1. A smaller quicker post player who can actually post up and score. Long arms great defender great energy good passer rebounder.
Okay.
Who?
And how?
Okay let me be clearer--Phil Jackson shouldve "waited" with the 18mm $ waited for players who are WORTH 18mm $. Also Bobby Portis really fell in the draft--personally at one point I had him at 3 and for him to fall past 20 was insane. We passed on a 6-11 250 pd versatile C/PF. We dont have privy to what is what--we dont know as fans that we are getting pick 21 or that the Knicks loved Lopez Oquinn and Willy h. Maybe they shouldve switched plans seeing Portis fall like that--they were fixated on Grant. The answer is we should NOT spend 18mm $ on players we feel are not worth that 18mm$ right? Could we have saved that money or helped us to facilitate trades? I really DO NOT think Lopez is much better than Cole A in fact I think it is possible Cole A is better than Lopez given a chance. The second we signed it I knew it was a mistake. I give them all the credit for Affalo Williams Seraphin for 2mm even Oquinn for 4mm--I have zero problems with anything there. BUT then those contracts especially Oquinns gets compounded because we signed that position another 13mm per. Now we are into the C spots 17-18mm for 4 years.
You created a topic "what we need to get better".
The first sentence in your topic is "1. A smaller quicker post player who can actually post up and score. Long arms great defender great energy good passer rebounder."
Why did you post this topic when you had no intention of talking about what the Knicks needs to get better, but only want to talk about Robin Lopez?
On the surface this thread seems disingenuous. I've given you ever opportunity to discuss who the Knicks need, and who the good scorer/rebounder/passer/defender is, and all you want to really talk about it who the Knicks got you don't like and who the Knicks didn't get you would have liked them to.
So I'll make this simple, is this thread really about who the Knicks can get to get better or isn't it?
Thanks for giving me the opportunity. Yes Im a disingenuous poster who hasnt changed his screen name 8 times like you. Ive only been here for 14 years and I rarely ever criticize other posters if at all.

I haven't changed my screen name 8 times. If Martin would like to reveal what my other screen name was (if there even was one), he has my okay.
I don't understand what the problem is. You created a topic called what we need to get better and you seem utterly resistant and now resentful when I try to discuss the topic with you.
Color me confused.

are you the new house prick just jumping from thread to thread critiquing everyone's posts? Have you added anything to the board yet? Any original thoughts? Ideas? Jokes? Sumpin?
Do you think anyone even has any idea of what you think or what opinions you have that makes you memorable - good or bad? No ... not really.Being the house prick only critiquing posts is not gonna last to long. At some point you will have to contribute some substance be it smart or even stupid. Just memorable in some way other than just being a jerk.
Oh I remember bigballs, he believe in X.
mreinman, stop with this type of posts, you are way off on your target here and I don't want it to go further. Please stick with basketball instead of psuedo mod. Thanks.
I am not way off, he has come after me (and some others) in every thread unprovoked. He is a passive aggressive retread that has a beef with some of us for some reason. Please and address and keep an eye on it ... no need for this. Most of the conversations here are respectful even if some of us disagree.
This is the second time in a couple of weeks that you came after me after I defended myself or lashed out on him. I believe that you need to see more context here.
he came at you "unprovoked" how? by challenging you to actually provide some basketball knowledge? it's a message board, that's what's supposed to happen.
On another note, does anyone do (except SAS)?
It is one of the keys to understanding KP's rapid ascent - the game is so much more primitive in NBA.

We need a PF a guy who is 6-9/6-10 245/250 who can score in the box yet also hit a 14 footer or even out to 3.. My suggestion is to offer Carmelo Anthony to Chicago in something that is based around Bobby Portis.

When you watch Grant and Galloway--you really see stars? I think there are guys in the D league who can spot over both of them right now. WTF happened to Galloway? I mean its one of the worst implosions I have ever seen so quickly.

It is a bit of an implosion, but I don't think it's going to last long, unless of course it's based on some minor injury nuisance that's about to get worse. It's still too early to cast aside any serious knock on Grant's ability to develop into a truly solid PG. He's had flashes of greatness potential. I don't think Gallo will ever be a 'star', although I hope I'm wrong about that. But I do see him being a really, really solid role player.
What we need right now is for more communication on defense, right from the starting jump. It worked earlier in the season and it can work again. We also need more aggressive plays on our offense, right to the rim with finishes and/or fouls. And yeah, believe it or not, we need AA to be just a bit more selfish than he's been the last couple of games. Not a whole lot, just a little bit more.

I love melo. But this has me intrigued. Can love play with kp?
NYKBocker wrote:What we really need to get better is a PnR PG that can penetrate and play that 2 man game with KP. Its obvious that KP will flourish in a high PnR situation. We really needed somebody like Jeremy Lin or Shved to play with him. Calderon is trying but he is too slow to exploit the defense. Grant with all his potential is not there yet. Gallo is not a PnR guard.
Jerian Grant ran it really well with him. I don't know why we moved away from that.
