A lot of info there including the league encouraging the Sixers to make the move.

Hinkie may have had a great concept but the most important part is what you actually do with the picks. Also this antagonistic thing he's got with Agents is really bad. When Agents are black balling your GM then you've got problems. You can't live off only the draft.

I just remember all the posts about how great Hinkie was and how Phil was in over his head.

Ha, that article claiming Hinkie's main problem was being unlucky because if he'd landed the number one pick in 2014 he could have drafted Wiggins, and then if he had won the number 2 pick this year he could have drafted the Russell! Honestly, what other gm gets judged on that kind of criteria?

I hope it helps. Philly fans deserve better.

I do expect deals to be made. Let's see how it goes. They have some horrible players mixed in with a few hard workers.

Sam Stinkie learned from the best, the reputable master of NBA Moneyball analytics himself Daryl Sorey.

Both losers of the highest magnitude. Colangelo will right Philly's ship in the right direction.

I like to dump on the Hinkman, but he's set Colangelo up to bring in some good young players, especially if they get that Laker pick.

Perhaps Hinkie's biggest failing, more so than drafting damaged goods, is that he doesn't seem to understand the components of a successful team and how individual players mesh together in a lineup.

He's also created a perfect storm situation...

He's drafted 3 big men who cannot be on the court together, and has also failed to comprehend that delayed development, misuse of skill sets, one player's injury issues, and now a player's character issues, have devalued Noel and Embiid, and OK4, to the point that the Sixers will not get back the value they might have hoped to get back.

There is still hope for the franchise...and if Colangelo gains respect for it, brings Saric over from Europe, has a good draft, and gets rid of certain players, he should be able to get things on track again.

Colangelo can make Philly contenders in a year or two.

Oh my god...

Hinkie's biggest downfall since taking over the job was being unlucky. The Sixers would be further ahead had they been fortunate enough to get the first overall pick in the 2014 draft, which they would have used on Andrew Wiggins. They also would have drafted D'Angelo Russell this past summer if they had the second pick.

Hinkie would have been praised for having key pieces in place with Wiggins, Russell and Nerlens Noel.

You know, if you want to make your own "luck", float Okafor by LA and they may have had a change in heart...

Having stockpiled picks is great and nothing wrong with that aspect of what Hinkie has done. My contention was always that we had no idea if he actually understood how to construct a team. When people were heaping praise on him they seemed to forget that the hardest part is what you actually do with those picks. Using them for trades is another option besides just the draft itself. There's still time for him to actually correct things perhaps with Colangelo's help.
