Knicks · Why Fisher singled out Carmelo in Knicks-wide tirade (page 1)

“The shooting percentage maybe isn’t there,’’ Fisher said of Anthony’s numbers. “But overall it’s a collective energy from our group. That’s the biggest issue. The shooting will always go up and down. For Melo, it’s not any different. You got to find ways to do winning things when it’s not going so well, when the stats aren’t going for you.’’

That quote made me give him a standing ovation. How many times to we have to say that if Melo's shot isn't falling we are fukked because he does not do the other things that can help us win when he is off?

Fisher ain't happy with Melo and Melo ain't gonna be happy with fisher. They better start winning fast or this sh1t's gonna explode.

Are you in his mind again or do you have quotes from Melo? Anyway, this is good. This is what Melo claimed he wanted so here it is. For most of the season he has been doing the other things besides shooting so Fisher does not need Melo to fall back into old habits. Good for Fisher

I actually applaud Fisher for asking Carmelo to affect the game in other areas. The question is this: why didn't fisher pull Carmelo to the side during the game to tell him to lead? This is exactly the job of a coach.

Carmelo himself claimed that he wants for the coaches to get on him when he is being lazy. I saw no one approaching him when he was on the bench to tell him to pick up his level of play. Oh, fisher is too politically correct to try to make those types of adjustments!

Yea Melos attitude was strait up childish last night ... It's like he's already given up on this team... If your not a verbal leader you need to lead in other ways like attitude and hustle... Not smile when we are down by 31 to the aweful Utah Jazz... Again any player in the top 25 would not be smiling being down 31,none of them. What makes me think he's already given up is any star knows if your shots not falling to take it to the hoop... He kept throwing up brick after brick and was unwilling to go to the hoop... If he's lost the desire to play then freaking retire so we can start building around KP...

You have to have more of a filter for NY media. Fisher was asked about Melo specifically and he answered. No one is writing about how when he was asked about Porzingis playing so few minutes what he said. A few guys that post here always point out to actually watch the interviews and not go with what the press says. Good advice for all guys that cover the Knicks but it especially applies to Berman. He talks about Kristaps and Melo right around the 3:00 minute mark. I suggest you watch it to see if he 'singled Melo out in his tirade'. http://www.msgnetworks.com/teams/knicks....

If you brick at the gym and smile no one is going to give a shit

This is the Melo that I saw during MDA's last season. He wasn't scoring and he was having health issues. He came back after Linsanity and he IMO pouted and wasn't giving max effort. He dragged the team down at that point. He was not shooting well, not defending or passing and really just like now he can drag the rest of the team down if he's not holding up his end on D and other areas. You can contribute outside of scoring. Melo has to hold up his end regardless of his scoring. If he doesn't bring energy that can also lift his teammates then they will follow his lack of energy. If Melo was hustling on D and barking at his teammates to defend harder, I can guarantee that it would've effected his teammates positively.

It's not all on Melo but he is a leader whether he always wants to be or not. He can't be the one bringing the team down.

so he is no longer speaking in code? good!

Melo is not a warrior nor a winner, never was. But it is more than that. For how many of NBA team owners this business is the breadwinner???? NBA is just a clash of egos, PR game, dick measuring competition. Otherwise no one would sign a proven loser for 124 gazillion :-)
TPercy @ 12/10/2015 7:13 PM
Good. Its great thaty Fisher is keep him on his toes.
clyderules @ 12/10/2015 7:15 PM
This is what I've been saying all along. Melo doesn't do anything well when his shot isn't falling. And his shot isn't falling.
arkrud @ 12/10/2015 8:08 PM
Not sure what up....
Nothing new is happening. Same old stuff 5 years already.
The scenery is changing but actor is the same. And result is the same.
You guys like fall from Mars or something?!

"I’m interested in guys strapping up, working hard, getting better. Those are the guys we want," Fisher said after arriving late to his postgame presser. "If you’re not interested in that, then this is not the place."

Words like this don't go over well in the locker room. Guys were playing hard and defending until you started jerking every bodies minutes around for the hell of it.

Too me this season is now first and foremost about trading Melo. Even before we attempting to start a winning culture. I think a winning culture can be accomplished after Melo is gone
nyknickzingis @ 12/10/2015 8:57 PM
Melo's a #2 in his prime and now he's seemingly exiting it, I'd say he's more like a really good #3. Porzingis is like a #2 or 3, and that leaves us with a gaping hole as to who can be the reliable go to #1 player.

It's not some brain surgery here - the Kobe, Jordan, Shaq of the Triangle successful teams in the past averaged their best numbers and with great efficiency. Melo is on the downward trend of his career, and the best use of him is a 2nd/3rd option guy. We need Porzingis to get better, and most importantly we'd benefit from some talent added via FA in the summer. Even at his best, I've never considered Melo to be a #1 guy on a great/very good team. He can be a #2 or 3 on that type of team but so long as you keep expecting/relying on Melo to be your best player each night, the Knicks won't go anywhere.

cause we don't know anything ... we aint gm's.

I'll tell you what, we have a much better chance of trading melo than signing erik greene so I'd rather talk about that.

yes, he has a NTC and yes it makes it harder, however, with every game and every new complaint, melo gives himself a pretext for waiving his NTC.

clyderules @ 12/10/2015 9:04 PM
If you cut his minutes or move him out of the starting rotation he'll be begging for a trade. Of course it's better if he can agree that it's best for everyone to move to a contender.

Sorry, but he is not tradeworthy- i.e., an object of desire- for other teams, and the more he does things which cause you to want him traded...the less chance there is for him to be swapped out.

Have to be realistic...

1) If his problems are recovery related, you just have to manage his minutes, give him a game off every now and then, and wait;

2) If he can know longer play they way he has played when at his best during his career, you have to make adjustments as to how he is used in games, and find ways to compensate for his deficiencies.

how about if we trade him for very very little (or nothing) just to get him off our cap so that we can sign a star?

And people keep jumping down my throat about so called "shade" or perceived hate.
