best case scenario is moving on from Melo and allowing us to build the offense and the team around Porzingis. given Melo's no-trade, we need to go back to the teams Melo thought about signing with as a FA - luckily, we have his lame-ass TV special to know where he really wanted to go. Chicago was his number 2, and they get a clear upgrade here over Mirotic at the 3/4. Noah only plays 20 minutes a game, and if the Bulls wanted some size coming back we can throw Seraphin in.

Bulls can contend in the East with Melo teaming with Butler, Pau, Rose and their solid bench.

you mean the bench they would trade to the knicks, and pray like hell gasol or rose stay healthy..Bulls would be the laughing stock of the league

if the Bulls think they are one piece away I think they could be convinced. replacing Melo (still a 20-ppg scorer who is a decent rebounder) with Mirotic (an 11/6 forward) would be a big upgrade.

i'm not sure i understand this reply. Portis doesn't play. Melo replaces Mirotic. Noah plays 20 minutes a night backing up Pau - if they wanted a back-up big in return surprise surprise the Knicks could toss in Seraphin or O'Quinn to replicate what Noah's giving them at this point.

I mean...do you really want to risk that? Get nothing in return. We're all yapping like we know what's going to happen, but I believe Phil will do the right thing, have a long talk with Carmelo, and hopefully move on finally by the trade deadline this season...

the Ewing trade put the Longley, Glen Rice and Travis Knight contracts on our books. the Knicks then flipped Rice for Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley which mucked up our cap for years to come. Eisley ultimately was a throw-in in the Marbury/Penny deal. what a disaster.

this is basically the inversion of the Ewing trade - Noah is an expiring contract, while Melo has another 3 years and $78M on his contract (good lord!). Portis is on a rookie deal and Mirotic is signed for $5M next year and then a FA.

I dont believe the situation is dire...yet. Many vets dont start playing well until january, takes time for their bodies to get up to speed. Throw in knee surgery and this could be just a temporary setback. I know you want him gone, KP is the only untradeable player the next few seasons IMO, but I don't want to sell Melo low this early in the season. No fire sale just yet.

I wasn't referring to your trade, its a good one for us. Im talking about a rushed trade early in the season, with little thought to what we're getting back. In the Ewing trade we got mostly damaged goods.

There are 2 things for certain that phil will never do

1)convince melo to leave after chasing him around the globe with a brinks truck and asking him to take what he wants..That would make him look like a complete idiot, from a business standpoint, he would lose a ton of credibil1ty, especially since none of his other acquisitions seem to be panning out

2)Fire fisher after standing out side his locker room after his final game, with a $5 million dollar check(making him the 6th highest paid coach in the nba and probably history) and a dream.

Fisher will eventually come to his senses and quit (for family reasons) when the FIRE FISHER CHANTS start raining on him if this team doesn't make the playoffs.

Make no mistake, if phil has to choose between fisher and melo, guess who's out the door?

Because this trade make zero sense for the bulls..Like Isaih said last night on TnT, the bulls are missing a leader, not talent. They come no closer to winning a title with melo than they would with out him. And if it doesn't happen in like one yr, you have very little young talent to build on, very few assets to trade with, and a couple of 30+ yr old players late in their prime.

This is a trade the Bulls might have made if Anthony was 5 years younger with no lingering injury issue. Folks around here are completely overvaluing Melo at this point.

Kind of amazing how valuable one of your players suddenly becomes when you want to get rid of him in a trade.

I agree, I doubt a deal happens. But don't dissuade the Bulls if they are delusional and think Melo helps!

I agree. This is too much to ask for Melo. I would do this trade with Portis removed though. There's no way the Bulls include him and we have KP at PF anyway.

Noah's expiring and Mirotic I would do and I think is a fair trade.

Except I would hold on to Noah - I think he is a perfect Triangle center.

I would keep Noah and look to move Rolo.

We'd still need a guard or two or three, but I love the idea of Noah and KP in the front court. And Mirotic as a shooter at SF or maybe off the bench.

If Melo gets right and his jumper recovers he'll have trade value. Until then he is a big risk with a huge contract.
