Knicks · Afflalo is not a good player and certainly not starting caliber (page 1)

mreinman @ 12/27/2015 8:16 PM
He is exactly what he has been in his career. A decent scorer who does not make anyone better and is as bad of a passer as almost any guard in the league.

Perfect triangle player ... yay!

StarksEwing1 @ 12/27/2015 8:19 PM
The dude NEVER passes. I blame him partly for KP struggling lately because he is taking away his touches and refuses to pass to him when he is open

He is not singling out KP, he passes to no one.

What else does he do wrong???

thats enough. a guard who doesn't pass ain't a guard that can ever be considered good (unless his TS is 65).

mreinman @ 12/27/2015 9:35 PM
complete disaster tonight. He is exactly what the advanced stats said he was. Mediocre.
yellowboy90 @ 12/27/2015 9:39 PM
I find it off that his ast has dried up theses past two years. It's not like it was great before but at least he was getting some.

Oh well. We'll always remember the days of Scoreflalo starring Arron "mediocre mamba" Bryant.

he's allergic to steals and blocks?

Yeah, he's a slightly below average player.

Unfortunately you can't just click your fingers and have fantastic players at every position instantly. Afflalo was a step forward, if we sign Batum this offseason, Afflalo becomes the sixth man, which is ultimately where I see him on a good team. Rebuilding a team is a slow process- you develop young players, you add some solid mediocre vets, that helps you take a step forward, which we have done.
nyknickzingis @ 12/28/2015 9:30 AM
He's been good but he's a guy you want to rely on for 28 minutes a night with a quality backup. We just don't have any shooting guard who can come in and play well when Afflalo is off. Sasha is our most stable shooting guard after and he is barely NBA caliber.

Not only do we need help at the point, we need major help at the 2.

yes, this.

GustavBahler @ 12/28/2015 11:08 AM
My problem with Afflalo is that he too often goes for high difficulty shots. He should be able to get an open look without all the contortions and off balance shots AA takes. Wouldnt mind the lack of passing so much if Afflalo had better looks at the rim.

Now u see why he received the salary he got. This experiment of adding players that has a past relationship with melo hasn't worked. Melo needs somebody on his level or beter for this team to succeed, regardless of their past relationship. Phil gave melo a chance to lead this team but that's looking like a tall order. Too many new parts in key positions is hurting us. Fixing 1 problem doesn't even put a dent into the other problems.

Fisher needs a team of all stars to succeed.
Melo needs two players on his lever or better to succeed.
Rolo needs 4 Allstars around him in a PnR system to succeed.

Its like trying to build a sports car with used parts from different manufacturers.

This is too sane and reasonable a perspective for this forum. Go away, please . . .
