I would have to agree that RoLo looked better than Mr. Drummond.

yeah...but Drummond was drunk...

Gotta just give RoLo and the Knicks credit!!! This team has some legit interior size and length. RoLo's entire game is putting his body on his man all game. Drummond usually plays loose and free to go after boards and catch OOPS of PnR. We ICE PnR so there isn't the typical roll man openings Drummond is used to. That's why he didn't look energetic. The Knicks clog the paint with bodies so there's no room.

But he was still drunk.

ROLO had a good game but if you honestly think he could stop or even slow down a top flight center like Drummond when he is on his game, then you either haven't watched Drummond play much this year or have the same haircut as ROLO but a bit too tight.

You're not following. Drummond is PF sized and RoLo was attached to him like a leech! Not to mention as I said the Knicks Defensive scheme is to ICE the PnR so there is no ROLL. This means less opportunities for Drummond to fly. Plus Drummond had his hands full with big ass RoLo trying to get Offensive Boards too!!! If you think it's easy for a PF size C you're mistaken.

Listen, just because you hate RoLo doesn't mean you can't give him credit. And I seriously doubt Drummond was drunk. Van Gundy wouldn't play him if he was drunk. You're going to have to come up with something better than that.

Power Forward size? Dwight Howard was the best center for years and he weighs less than Drummond.

Point is that he took Drummond out of his game, so he could not be "on" it.

Drummond looked pretty common out there...simply a case of someone punching the bully in his face and setting a tone that carried on through the game.

Dwight has also had issues with bigger guys that got physical with him. It's more about the style of play that RoLo has. He really leans on his man and some guys are able to deal with it better than others. Drummond can't fly as easily with a big guy draped all over him like RoLo does. Also as I mentioned the Knicks ICE PnR so they don't leave the lane open for dunks on PnR.

Ah yes, and once again I'm reminded of Bargs shutting down D12. I'm laughing right now as I type this.

Hopefully that was a corner turning game for Lopez. He's got another big challenge in Chicago in a few days.
Ira @ 12/31/2015 7:24 AM
RoLo had a great game against Drummond. There's no denying that. Now let's seem him play at that level with some consistency. If and when he does that, we become a better team.

I thought it was pretty clear that Rolo plays great defense against traditional centers. The problem is that there not not many of those in the NBA anymore. Once you can hit a mid range or long range shot then Rolo's defense ability drops. Rolo and KOQ are glaringly uncomfortable guarding anyone outside of the paint. KOQ is the worst of the two. He plays back in the paint even if the PNR happens at above the 3pt line. If we make it to the playoffs I would love to play a team with traditional bigs, it would be our best shot at advancing to the next round.
BRIGGS @ 1/1/2016 11:49 AM
I dont really see the difference in play where you pay Lopez 13mm and Cole Aldrich 1m? I dont thunk there is a difference--I think Cole's a great value and Lopez while his play has gotten better--quite expensive to say the least. They just started giving Cole consistent back up minutes--thyeve won every game and hes been consistent.

Lopez does his job on a nightly basis. His job isn't to score 15-20. He's there to defend the toughest big guy and to anchor the D. Bring energy, set hard screens. He does all of that.

We're pretty stacked up front. Sure our front court players could score a bit more, they seem to miss plenty of easy open shots around the basket, but I can live with that.

The problem with this team is the lack of scoring in the backcourt and the lack of lineup consistency with Fisher. If you want to run the Triangle, you need consistent lineups that know each other really well.
