New York is not a television show. It is not Kansas. It is a big, funky, rambunctious and dangerous city.

Hire a driver. Do not allow random skanks past the doorman. Put away the oversized jewelry. Never travel alone. If you must party, party in a location that has a Michelin rating.

This is not about blaming the victim. There are crazy people out there who will do anything, including snatching gold chains off Staephon Marbury while sitting in his car with the window open. Remember? And Stephon is from Coney Island.

The final instructions from a boxing referee are applicable here:

"protect yourself at all times."

The streets ain't no joke.

Oh I'm with you on that. And the swatches

You should feel safe no matter where the hell you are no matter what time of day or night. I don't know about you guys but gang violence is increasing, you hear disturbing news about babies in the back seat being shot by stray bullets.

The city is becoming shitty again.

City safer than at any time in modern times, according to police stats:

sad to hear about Early. I wonder how bad his knee is and won't be surprised is Thanasis takes his spot

I imagine he will be out a while either way.

I hope his knee has no significant damage that will affect his game. If he comes back sooner than expected, that will be nice

Great news and God bless him. I pray the wound doesn't get infected.

Also, it's weird how people on different boards think the area Clea was in was okay and not bad like others on this board.

Probably because people hear Maspeth, and don't distinguish between the residential part (which is safe) and the industrial part (which strikes me as a bit sketchy, even before this news).

That makes sense

Really...how do you get shot in the knee and essentially have no serious damage. That's just super weird.

I know dudes who know dudes that go around robbing rappers and athletes for a living. they hang out in all the trendy spots they go at.

Sometimes I listen to these stories and wonder why doesn't a good looking young man age of 24 have a nice girlfriend he can do fun things with and safely have more mature fun without the risk?

A strip club has a seducing voice that's hard to ignore. If what you said were as easier said than done than it should be, than a whole lot of our problems would be solved.

I hope Early recovers from this quickly and learns from this... and the criminals get caught. Scumbaggery at it's finest.

Because all it takes sometimes is in fact just 1 time. I'm not claiming that he probably did this sort of thing a lot, or that he never did it before. I have no idea. But sometimes it really just takes 1 time when you want to do something silly or irresponsible or just down right dumb. It's like those stories you hear about people who have never ever driven while intoxicated, but the 1 time they do it, for whatever reason, something terrible happens.

Because he's not 40 yet
