I thought that they moved the ball crisply and made their shots. The defense was on point too. Slipped into ISO ball in the 4th quarter, but didn't fold. I would like to see KOQ back in the lineup, but I guess what they're doing is working, so I can't complain(too much). Go Knicks!
StarksEwing1 @ 1/6/2016 8:24 AM
The last 2 games have been real good. Beating the hawks back to back is a good step.
ChuckBuck @ 1/6/2016 8:49 AM
For 3 quarters, the Knicks played total team ball that all of us have wanted for the longest.

Lots of hard cuts and swing passing and low dribbling plays. Then the 4th quarter happened, and it all grinded back to ISO ball.

Somehow we have to play a complete 4 quarter game where the ball still swings completely around and we don't have to settle for Melo and Afflalo ISO to save us from coughing up a big lead.

I agree. 4th quarters have been a big problem. Luckily we have been playing well enough thru 3 quarters to hold the lead.

Melo played team ball for three quarters. He had 11 boards and 7 assists. He is evolving his game, belatedly and slowly, but I like the direction he's heading. When he has a bunch of dimes in his stat line, we tend to win games. Seems like he's starting to trust his teammates, which means he's also starting to trust his coach.

To be fair to Melo - he's been playing this way almost all year. He's bought in from day 1.

Except now, he's a little healthier and his teammates are starting to play a little better.

Last night may have been the best Rolo, Afflalo, and Calderon all played in one game together.

Yes . . . but maybe he's also starting to seriously "In Phil We Trust" (?)

This is why I follow the Triangle Culture -- the human interest side of basketball.

Can Carmelo Anthony change himself as a human being . . . to realize more of his human potential as a basketball player (?)

Same goes for every Knicks player, every Knicks coach, every Knicks administrator, every Knicks owner . . .

Okay, maybe I'm overdoing it when I say "owner" . . .

He did not buy in right away but he is buying in now which is good.

Another thing - if you watch the post game interviews with Melo - he's beaming. He looks very happy.

I think you're right. He's probably happy because his agent told him the trade to Chicago is coming any day now.

We're all very selfish. Myself included. That's just who we are as knick fans.

It's going to take time to get the team going. Coaching too.

Fisher has to keep the rotation at 9. I like that he chose to roll with Williams and Lance at Forward. Grant and Galloway together off the bench is the way to go.

Melo and Kristaps need Affalo to find his game every night. Mr Black hole Afflalo needs to be selfish and take his shots. We are hard to defend if Affalo is attacking. Melo will get his and Kristaps needs that extra guy keeping the double team away.

Calderón has been playing great. He's running the team very well. He has his flaws but he's helping more than hurting most nights.

Rolo is a hack. He is fucking everyone up allowing melo and Kristaps to do what they do.

Go knicks

I agree with all this.

Except I think Fisher will need to go deeper than 9 guys on back to backs sometimes. I think we might see 10-11 guys tonight - Melo and Rolo played season highs in minutes last night.

I don't think you can go 9 guys every night of the season - but it's a good model for how to win big games or play against really good teams.

NYStateOfMind @ 1/6/2016 11:58 AM
I agree, some nights you need to go 10 or 11, but 9 most nights is a formula for success. I think the minutes need to be adjusted a bit, too starter heavy and that will wear them down in the 2nd half of the season.

Good point and i agree that we should see a little deeper rotation tonight. Not too much maybe see some O'Quinn and just more of DW, Lance and Grant.

They did. The only error I can point to is down the stretch in the forth; we almost gave the game away due to RoLo guarding a stretch four who was much smaller and agile. He guarded Millsap on several occasions and the opposing team ended up with several made three point shots. We got lucky, because some of our boys were able to keep scoring; as well as, because we had a double digit lead. We almost got outcoached

Rolo was out in the 4th and we were getting killed. Fisher brought him back in to help stop the bleeding and he did.

The open threes come from our guards getting beat and Rolo needed to help defend penetration.

You really are reaching.

yet another pathetic attempt at driving your own agenda. if that is actually your take on watching the game, then you really know absolutely nothing about the way the game of basketball is played.
