Jerian's development is going to be a huge factor for this team. It was great to see him lead the team in crunch time.

I'd love to see fish reward him with more minutes. I like watching this kid he did a great job of getting the ball to the right guy and hitting his shots. Kid has great court vision, is a plus defender, can get to the ft line, and hoop. Exactly what this team needs !
crzymdups@ 1/13/2016 1:08 AM
Someone mentioned that Jose tends to shoot a lot after Grant has a good game and Jose feels his minutes threatened. Something to watch for against Brooklyn tomorrow with Melo likely out?
But, yeah, Grant looked spectacular.
I think Fisher is bringing him along just right. He hasn't been thrown in the deep end and he hasn't been held back. When he's really struggled earlier in the season, Fish gave him a game off. I think Fish has done a good job giving him more responsibility and playing time slowly.
Also, the backcourt to finish the game was Grant and Calderon - I wonder if Grant eats into Galloway's minutes just as much as Calderon's? When Calderon came back in around 5-6min mark of the 4th quarter, I thought for sure he was coming in for Grant - kudos to Fisher for leaving Grant in and taking out a quiet Galloway.
Grant, most importantly of all - really slowed down Isaiah Thomas in the 4th quarter. I think Thomas had 30pts through 3qtrs and then didn't score again til the final minute. Grant totally took away his penetration. That, more than anything, is what will ensure he continues to get PT.

I love how much more confident he gets with each passing game and more playing time. The game has slowed down some too or he is playing a lot faster and more intense. He also is using the dribble a lot more than early in the season and not putting himself in bad spots. What we saw today is a glimpse but I knew the kid could be a player. So glad his shot is improving too. The vision and the passing was always there. If he bulks up a few he'll be even better.

He wasn't scared to shoot which is a huge aspect of his game he has to prove he can bring to the table. Being aggressive driving was also good to see. He's only going to get better!

One other point: I think Calderon is helping to mentor Grant. In the 4th when Calderon and Grant were in the backcourt, Calderon kept pointing to Grant to receive the inbounds pass and bring the ball up. Calderon still running the offense great and I think he's having a positive impact on Grant, too.

Yeah let's be clear. This is a total team effort and this team is united. The vets are helping the young guys. They believe in each other. Defend each other!

He's hiding and waiting for Grant to have a bad game before creating another thread. Meanwhile, Grant has a great game and Briggs is no where to be found. Sometimes I think Knick fans are the worse fans to have. Hard on their own players, but patient with other team players. Doesn't make any since.
Good game Grant. I've always had faith in your game. Some players take longer than others to catch on. It's also Fisher having confidence in him to give him that playing time.

I'm more cautious with Grant because he's in the hot seat at point guard. Everything went right for him and it was a flash of what he will do for us every night in the future. I'm not ready to crown him but soon these games will start to become more consistent. He's not there yet, but he's staying to breathe down Calderón and Galloway neck.

That's the theme of the season. Guys got each others back. You hate to break this group up. We have to be careful how we build going forward. We need to bring in like minded guys.
EnySpree@ 1/13/2016 8:12 AM
Not to be negative but Grant is very weak. Playing against these rough Celtics showed that. He is easily thrown off his center of gravity. Kid has heart though and you can't teach that. He'll get better but he's not ready yet. He definitely will be probably around April and definitely next year.
Cartman718@ 1/13/2016 9:28 AM
why didn't Dwill point to Grant on that touchdown pass?
Knixkik@ 1/13/2016 9:34 AM
We know grant will be a good nba defender, be able to make plays for others, and can draw fouls. His future as a starting pg hinges on his ability to shoot the ball. He needs to become a good open shooter.

If we get what we got from Grant last night from here on out it will be a huge help cause Phil probably won't have to make a trade for a point guard which will save our assets for other possibilities at other positions like maybe for someone that can give us more scoring in the paint. I know we can't just automatically expect Grant to do what he did last night but it will be a HUGE confidence booster for him and bigtime cudos to Fisher for running with him as much as he did last night cause when he first came in he was making the same mistakes he's been making but wow did he come on when the game mattered and when we needed him most.

What we're seeing from this team with everything from the new Melo to KP to how they get along to how they trust each other to Fisher growing as a coach is something you don't see with a team that hasn't been playing all that long together. Phil has changed the culture of this team in minimal time and it's not a team full of superstars like some of other teams. Phil caught of whole lot of hellz from fans and media since he's been here cause he didn't bring in any superstar players in free agency like everyone expected him to be able to do because he's Phil Jackson. He has built a team of guys that want to be here and love playing with each other and that stuff just flows through the locker room. It's exciting times for our New York Knicks and it's all just getting started.

Good point. Phil needs to be careful (which i'm sure he will) with the players he adds to this group. I'm not gonna start naming names but we need guys like J.Noah and P.Gasol added to this group or in place of a Seraphin or whatever. Those are guys that are all about their teams and teammates. You put J.Noah in place of Seraphin and that would be a huge difference.

I think the culture he has built has been nothing sort of amazing. Virtually everyone on the team is a high energy high character guy. I was a little skeptical, but 9MM for two point guards is fairly reasonable. This team becoming a real contender is really going to depend on Grant becoming a 14pt and 7assist point guard. We need a little more scoring bunch and we can compete with just about anyone because of the blue collar defensive attitude. Very much like the Bulls a few years back, but Affalo, KP, Melo can all score. DWIll is finally in his perfect spot and I like Grant, Dwill, KP, Thomas in high tempo.
Grant just needs to keep attacking and spend a lot of time working on his jumper, which by all accounts he is doing. It's a breath of fresh air not to have average players who think they are superstars and guys that are just out there to compete!
