great defense
This is why I love and always loved Rolo. This guy was a great signing for the right price.
He anchors our defense and changed the culture of this team.
Half the things that he does goes under the radar.
he's played outstanding not only tonight, but really the last 15 games or so. think you said it perfectly, he's a glue guy. most glue guys don't put up stat lines like that... it's nice to see lopez come into his own here.
also, briggs looks foolish and over-reactionary (as he usual does) when he says things like he did with lopez. don't question him though.

I never question briggs. I usually just tell him that he is wrong (again)
That Rolo hook is just gravy. This guy can guard any center and now centers have to guard him.
Even when he doesn't get the rebound he is fighting like hell and holding up 3 guys.

Naw, i'd still rather overpay for Monroe and roll out a horrible defensive frontline night in and night out.
He really has played great the past month or so. He really struggled the first few months, at least off and on he struggled. He seems much more comfortable as a post option on offense - and the defense and rebounding has been there all season.
One thing the past month or so - he seems to have more ups on his blocks to me. There was some talk of him having an undisclosed injury that he was recovering from in training camp. I think now he's fully recovered and we're seeing the real ROLO.
Every single one of Phil Jackson's signings or draft picks from this past summer have looked very good in respect to their role.
Robin Lopez is a fantastic role playing Center. He also has a nice hook that is really hard to defend. There was plenty of talk that Robin didn't fit in the Triangle, but he clearly does. Just needed some time to understand where he can get his shots vs constantly setting picks for a point guard like Lillard or holding post position to open up the driving lanes.

don't think he was really hurt. I think that he was really struggling trying to learn how to play in the post and it looks like it paid off. That hook shot is freakin money!

+1
It's about character and hard work.
The right guy for the role. Easy to root for. Phil knows what he is doing.
Im up and down on lopez. Tonight he was terrific. Other nights not so much. If he can be more consistent then we are gonna be tough to beat

who has been consistent on this team? The team is inconsistent.
He is doing a bit of everything and stats dont tell the whole story. Knicks are a good pg away from being a good team

KOQ? Seraphin?
O'Quinn hasn't gotten minutes to show what he does, but early in the season he was getting minutes and showcasing it. Early on in the season his PER was up to 19 and I think it's still strong his PER rating. He fits into the Triangle, and is a team first guy who loves to organize the defense when he's out there. He's been used sparingly because Robin Lopez has played very well in the last month, and KP has played well enough to earn minutes at backup C. Then you have DWill playing well at PF. No real minutes for KOQ.
Seraphin is what he is - a guy with an impressive post game and size to hold post position. We've been fortunate so far not to have any injury to keep Lopez out. Bigs get hurt. The Triangle won't work without a big guy being able to hold position in the post. The Bulls teams of the 90's used to have 3 Centers play 15-20 minutes a piece just to hold the positioning there.
Also watch both guys energy on the bench. They're extremely positive. Sasha too. I don't think Sasha is a player that can break the rotation of a good NBA team, but watch how much he influences and talks to Porzingis on the bench. Every one of the signings, even the scrubs, have had a purpose on this team. Lots of character guys.
He has had a very good stretch.....this is the big we've always needed in the middle. Thank you Phil

This is why I had such faith in Phil. Guys would ask me why I was so supportive of Phil and IMO he did EXACTLY what he said he was gonna do with this team! The kind of players Phil said he would bring in was clear and he did just that. Hard working, character and team oriented guys that can play in this system. Phil still has work to do but guys like RoLo are proof of Phil's vision.

Koq at 4 mil a year and locked in at that rate for 4 years is a bargain. Will always be good for depth and always tradeable and easy to move if needed. Seraphin was a last minute 1 year rental for depth. Nothing wrong with either signing. Low risk, moderate upside. The big money deals were the gamble, lopez, afflalo, and to a lesser extent dwill considering his production in the league to this point and all players have established their roles on this team worth their contracts.

Are you really questioning if Phil is smart and at the same time push the Lopez is awesome stuff all over? You know who signed Lopez? Phil. You know why? He has a brain for basketball. He's not perfect and I'm sure he'll make mistakes, but I trust what he's been doing the last 18 months vs the Knicks presidents/GM's of the past. Some people talk about him as if he were the one that traded draft picks for Bargnani. He's trying to turn this around with guys who you love like Lopez. If he isn't signing Wroten, there could be a very significant reason for it. You do realize Wroten got cut by the worst team in basketball? They've improved ten fold without him.

I think he has a group that has roles and believe in each other. Adding anyone coud disrupt that. Wroten has a lot of talent, would be the second youngest knick, and certainly is intriguing. Phil may want to keep the fexibility and see what shakes out around the trade deadline. I think he fills that spot and I think Wroten would be a good guy to try out but te spt may stay open until the trading deadline.
