Knicks · The Hawks are reportedly open to trading away Jeff Teague or Dennis Schroder. (page 5)

Budenholzer has had conflicts with Schroeder. He was benched for awhile dnp coaches decision. It is interesting that Teague is the guy they are looking to move.
jullybully21 @ 1/27/2016 7:25 PM
If the knicks want to trade for Teague we need to include a third team. A team that can possibly give ATL what they want is Portland. They need salary to reach the floor and a bunch of wings that ATL can use.
nyknickzingis @ 1/27/2016 7:45 PM
I think in a trade like this, for a player like Teague, the only players not available are Melo/KP. Teague immediately becomes our 3rd best player, and is a guy who can play on par with Mike Conley, but only cost 8 million next year vs Conley who would cost maybe 2.5 times that.

The question is what does Atlanta want. Calderon is a player who makes some sense for them only because they need a veteran to pair with Schroder. Even if Dennis starts, Calderon comes in as the backup. They'd want more you would think. I agree with others that suggest Derrick Williams would be on their radar. As would Lance Thomas. They lost Carroll and may covet a versatile wing who can play a number of spots up front. DWill fits in with that thinking, as would Lance. Seems Thomas is not able to be traded this year though without his consent.

Afflalo has averaged 23 points a game against them in 3 meetings, so they may be higher on him than most teams.

Not sure if I want to trade Derrick Williams in a trade like this. He's been playing really well. Problem is what is his market value in the summer? Is he interested in returning on a reasonable deal or will he jump at the highest bidder (What majority of guys would do). If he's going to go for the highest bidder, it may end up costing NY money they don't want to invest right now.

Biggest value in Teague is not just on the court. It's his contract. Only 8 million next year. If NY signed a free agent of his caliber in the summer it would cost them 18-20 million possibly.

That's cool to say, but what would we be giving Portland? If Portland is trading one of their wings and we're taking Teague, who are they getting back?

Also as shaky as things may look for Atlanta, they sit 3rd in the East as of today. Can't see them trading Teague. Not unless they are massively upgrading at another position. Which they would only do so if they were getting Melo, which they won't be.

True, but if they wanted an expiring (Afflalo and that deal he might opt out of) to give them more cap to re-sign Horford and Bazemore or simply are smart enough to know Teague and/or Shroeder both have a lot more trade value to teams on a 2 year deal than as an expiring. The rumors now is they want to move one of them.

Also they need a SF if you read Hawk boards right now Korver and Bazemore are their 2/3 with Bazemore playing out of position. A SF would allow them to return Korver to the bench and play Bazemore at his natural position.

So basically the Knicks just don't have a real shot at Teague.

Probably not, but Phil has surprised us before. This even being leaked could be an attempt to draw a third team in. You never know......

Jeff Teague for Jose and Lance gets it done ... And with the way Lance is playing I think atl would pull the trigger...

The real question is would Phil be willing to move LT?

Lance is Fisher's guy. That move would be a blow to Fisher as well.
CrushAlot @ 1/27/2016 8:59 PM
It might be better to make a smaller move (i.e Seraphin for DJ Augustine).

Blake Griffin is hurt so maybe they have used for Seraphin.... for Crawford?

mreinman @ 1/27/2016 11:17 PM
jimmer and bachynski for teague and bazemore

Then move Teague and Bazemore in a salary dump and use the space to sign Wroten

Of course they do. It just comes down to who/what they wanna give up to get him but if Phil wants this kid we have the assets to get him. It also depends on Phil's plan and if he can make Teague part of his plan or if Teague would mess up his plan. Phil knows what kind of team he wants to build and what kind of players it will take to build that team so i'm sure he's doing or has done his homework on Teague and every other free agent that's on the block or could be on the block for the right return.

I hate even seeing LT offered in a deal. I think Phil will make sure that LT would be one of the last pieces he'd offer in a trade cause he can do so much for a team and the piece or pieces he'd be getting back for a player like LT would have to be a piece for the now and the future. LT is a very valuable piece for us or any team.

probably can get done..But every championship team needs a player like Lance Thomas aka James Posey...He is too valuable

Would yall Do Lopez for Teague straight up?

Hellz no. KP is not ready to play full time center with the way other bigs bang him around and we don't have any other big that can play a decent amount of minutes at the 5 and actually be a plus for us.

Nalod @ 1/28/2016 12:37 PM

What are other teams offering? We gonna get mad at phil if he don't do a deal

I don't see Atlanta doing more then gauging interest right now. If a deal gets done it will be closer to the trade deadline at which point we will likely be 24-31 with very slim chance of making the playoffs, so no not mad
