Don't know what you got until its gone. Jose is an asset for us and its time we show him a little love.
He is not going to lead us to the promise land, nor lock down the speedy youth at the PG, but at this moment in time he is taking care of the ball and teaching the kids a thing or two......

Good article and kinda funny cause i just brought up what Derozan said about him earlier in another thread. I'm not sure you'll get too many good posts on this cause SOME people just don't wanna admit that Calderon is an asset to our team.
Would like to keep Gallo in starting 5 & bring Jose off the bench.

I think Gallo at the very least has earned the right to get a shot at starting that's for sure but he'd be on a semi short leash. I do like what he's done these last two games that he's started for us.

Ain't that what I have been saying all along? You and others called me a moron and many other superlatives for advocating to remove this dude from the lineup. I was not calling for Calderon to be traded; just a simple shift on how he is used. I value veterans leadership, and I think Jose can and is doing a great job teaching the young kids. However, I believe it is foolish to start this dude at this juncture of his career. Slow legs, horrendous defender, and a hesitant shooter.

In a tight game, the dude does not turn the ball over. its why he starts and finishes.
If Gallo can carry the minutes will come. If Gallo can finish, he will be more valuable than starting. Its not who starts, but who finishes!
On a team that is a work in progress its easy to assume the concepts that you speak of but reality is another thing.
At the same time, its not that Fisher is holding them back, its that they have to earn the trust to get those starters minutes.
Jose is the kind of guy that will not just move out of the way, but support then yoots and encourange them!!!!!!
Patience.......
jose has been our best guard by a mile.
if only we can pinch run for him on dee
I'd take Galloway any day over Jose. He would be good on the second unit.

Sorry, I don't see it.
yeah ... I see that.
I would take Gallo any day over Jose

By Gallo.. you mean the guy who averaged 7ppg, 2assists and shot 37% for two months (30 game sample)? And did so playing the same minutes as Jose? That Gallo? If you think Langston has played better than Jose this year you have not watched many Knick games.
Jose is nothing more than a stop gap--it is what it is. He'll be long gone before we are good.
I've watched every minute of every game minus 3 and I Gallo has outplayed Jose in every single one almost. It's his defense!
Can't wait until this scrub is off the books....

Langston hasnt stopped anyone this year. His transition D is good but when Fisher has used him as a defensive stopper (hell, a defensive slower) he has failed and that led to more minutes for Jose. Langston's D has been better than Jose's while Jose is a much better offensive player and PG right now. Fisher has tried to use LG more and more and it hasnt worked. #s show that

That's long been assumed and is correct. This is the guy who encourages and helps the yoots. This is the guy that you want to help develop.
You bring on vets like Andre Miller who was a hell of a player well into his late 30's but he was about himself.
Galloway his not stepped up to take the job. Plain and simple. Grant has yet to develop and take the job. Guys on 10 day contracts are lucky to see the light of day and are about trying to stick.
Im not advocating for Jose to be the future but he has been a good part of our return to respectability. That's all we get to this year and its a big step.
We have come a long way!!! Enjoy the process!!
All of our guards are 2nd and 3rd string talent. We need a serious upgrade in the back court which has been obvious to everyone since the summer. So why should we give Jose some due? He's had 11 seasons in the NBA and he is still what he is...except older, slower and more injury prone.

if you look at the #s Jose is an above average NBA player. He is what he is. I think the "give due" is simply acknowledging he's not the terrible player some would make him out to be

Cuz he is what we got and I root for him to succeed as a knick. This wishful thinking that somehow by giving Galloway more minutes he will magically emerge. He gets his minutes and is coming along. The other thing is some NBA scrub is lighting up the Dleague and we assume he could do the same here. As Fishmike said, Jose would be tearing up the Dleague if he was there. We don't need grant tearing up the Dleague, we need him playing as he has and learning. Not all rookies get it their first year.
We have come a long way in one season, I for one are enjoying "What it is", not what its not!!!
