Knicks · Knicks have spoken to Suns about M.Morris. (page 2)

If I had to guess - Derrick Williams and O'Quinn for Morris.
Perhaps the Knicks are skeptical of giving Williams a longterm contract this summer. I think DWill would cost them around 6-8 million a year and they may feel Morris is someone that fits in better in their offense.

Yeah if there's any truth to this it could go a number of ways. It could be a 3 teamer that could get us a point guard like J.Teague or B.Jennings.

This is a good observation gum shoe. Let's see what happens

3 team trade....

Phoenix trades Morris to Detroit

Detroit trades Jennings to the Knicks

Knicks trade Derrick Williams and Kyle O'Quinn to Phoenix

Smart trade all around if you ask me. Phoenix gets great value for Morris, Detroit gets the Morris Brothers back together. Knicks get their point guard for at least the rest of the year.

If you ask me, Jackson has no interest in a point guard like Jennings.
If he gets a point guard, he wants a better version of Calderon or Grant.

Better version of Calderon = someone that can shoot real well, high IQ, team first, good passer. Matador defense will be overlooked.
Better version of Grant = extremely physically gifted, strong, penetrating guard with good ability to defend.

If we want Morris, it's because we like his ability as a face up player, who can dribble the ball to the basket, who can score really well from mid-range and in. If you look at Morris he is capable of doing all the things we want from DWill, or hope DWill would do on a nightly basis. I am obviously talking about pre-brother being traded so I'm going to pout all season version. This year Morris sucks - but he's pouting big time.

I don't know. I think we much much much more need to upgrade the PG and SG slots than the 3/4 slots.

I kinda think it would be a great fit if he can get his attitude problem fixed and we know once Phil puts that mojo on his azz he'll be just fine. A front court of four significant players in Melo, Rolo, KP6 and Morris would be awesome and all four would get plenty of minutes and we all see how Rolo gets taken out of a lot of games because a lot of teams are playing more small ball so we'd have Melo at the 3, Morris at the 4 and KP6 at the 5......that would be a good front court to finish games with if we're playing a small ball team.

A George Hill kind of guard. Big.
Nick Batum kind of guard. Big.
Not a ball dominant smallish penetrator. They are exciting to watch but are also turnover machines.

Morris is a very good athlete, strong but not fluid offensively. I think Lance Thomas does this role for us very nicely and deserves a raise. Rather pay him then Shitty attitude Morris.

Jennings seems to play amazing at MSG. But how does he fit the Triangle? Isn't he just a bit too ball dominant?

Oh he's getting paid for sure. Lance has clearly done enough to get a decent pay raise.

Lance is good, but Lance is more of a wing, while Morris can play the 4 as well. Morris is also better at creating his shown. Think the comparison should be Morris vs DWill, instead of Morris vs Thomas. I think if this rumor is true, the Knicks aren't sold in investing in Williams longterm and rather invest that money in Morris. In a year from now, DWill and Morris could have identical contracts. Interesting to see what happens with DWill. I really like some of his games, but it's been hard to measure if he'll keep playing better or learn to improve his jumpshot which is a must if he wants big minutes on a good team.

Also look at the Melo factor. In games Melo misses we're 0-6. If you bring in someone like Morris, he's a far more capable scorer in those situations. Part of improving is to improve yourself to deal with the current physical decline of Melo. He won't ever be able to give you a full season of healthy, strong play. The knees don't get better in the 30's only worse. So we've got to have a very capable forward who can score 15-20 points in situations Melo's out. DWill is inconsistent in this area, can't truly tell right now if he's going to be worth 6-8 million a year.
