Knicks · This team can't sustain a single injury to its rotation (page 1)

Can't win when melos out, only won one game when lance was out, can't win now that calderon is out. Fisher got away from the 9 man rotation, so he's back reaching. I'm noticing Afflalo and Lopez play much better when calderon is on the floor, and lance and Galloway are not NBA starters by anyones imagination.

We win when Serphine and Admunson are out.

Sasha continues to shoot garbage buckets, no impact, make a shot give up shot impact, thats why their garbage points when your down by 8 or 10. I know we don't have much of an option at the guard position, but i would much rather see lance at the 2 then sasha.

Kinda concerning.. Knicks haven't been the same since Melo tripped over the ref really
callmened @ 2/2/2016 10:29 PM
nope its FRAGILE.

thats what you get when you start - jose, affalo and melo coming off surgery

Yeah we gave up the quality depth when we didn't resign Alex s and Larkin for absolute nothing. We don't have guards in a guard league

Letting Shved go to sign Seraphin was a big mistake this off-season.

I didn't love Larkin, but Shved had something working in this system.

Grant has been a disappointment, too, unfortunately. I do think it's just confidence, but man...

You can thank Fisher for signing Seraphin over Shved.

Derek Fisher and general manager Steve Mills convinced Knicks president Phil Jackson that Seraphin was a better fit as a backup center than adding combo guard Alexey Shved, who was eager to accept the Knicks’ $2.8 million exception.

If you call this bones made of paper I guess that is exactly what the Knicks need.

callmened @ 2/2/2016 11:19 PM
lol. dont get me wrong. hes talented! but very injury prone. im a fan of his game. hope he stays healthy
reub @ 2/3/2016 12:32 AM
We signed Seraphin, O'Quinn, and Amundsen over him? That's just crazy! It's almost like this organization puts no value on guard play.

They didn't know KP was going to be ready to contribute. However I still believe they didn't put much emphasis on fixing the back court. They could have offered Schved a decent contract

TPercy @ 2/3/2016 6:19 AM
So what I am hearing is...Calderon is not so bad after all?

We made a great great trade for Alex. Heck I poo pooed the player I was like yeah we got two 2s for absolute nothing. BUT when I watched Alex I realized this guy not only is a good player but has the potential for MORE. He has almost every asset in a guard we do NOT have. I dont care if 99/100 disagree with me but Alex S wouldve been a material player on this team. Wed be MUCH better with him. Some of the comments above are right--this is obviously a fragile team. We compete but were not built right--too many bigs.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 2/3/2016 9:01 AM
I agree, it was a mistake not re-signing Shved in retrospect. He would have given at least as much as Aflalo, if not more.

I also think Lin would fit this team. Being back in NY would energize him.

Evans is a good idea.

Evan Tuner looked good last night...but that was against the KNicks, so....

Andrew @ 2/3/2016 9:37 AM
I disagree. The Knicks can sustain injury. What they can't do is win (consistently) if their top guys do not play well. They just don't have the depth of talent necessary, and I wouldn't expect them to this year. You can't have Melo shoot 4-16, 1-5 from 3 without others stepping up and expect to beat a playoff caliber team like Boston.

doesn't work in the nba...look at rubio. star in europe...terrible in the nba.
he can't bang with the nba caliber athletes day in and day out...again like rubio.

our mr latvia is an anomaly...not the rule.

rubio is far from terrible. I wish we had rubio right now.

EnySpree @ 2/3/2016 10:21 AM
We're where we are supposed to be.... we are top heavy and our guard are mediocre. Can't really get to mad

If we had Rubio, we'd probably be a 500 or above team right now. Dude does what Jose can't when he does that dumb dribble back out when he's directly under the backboard. Dude can't shoot, but we wouldn't need him to when he can create easy looks for KP and Melo. He's also only 25 and actually plays professional NBA quality defense.

He played for the Knicks last season and I wanted him on the Knicks from what I seen him do the in NBA. He should have never even gone to Europe. You are right that you can't look at stats on a 1 to 1 ratio from Europe to the NBA. I look what what they are capable of doing instead of stats. I know Jimmer is not going to average 23pt 5reb 5ast in the NBA. I just notice that he has a skill set that could help us coming off the bench. No one can score off our bench except DWill. If he has a bad game then you get bench play like last night. Every shot was a terrible mid range shot that had to be forced because no one noticed the shot clock was low.

I think our PG problem is a lot bigger than people realize. We usually get no easy shots. How many times is KP missed on an Ally Opp,PNR or backdoor cutd? The only people who helps create baskets for KP is the new and improved Melo and Jose on Drag screens. KP should be mostly used as a finisher and not a facilitator.
