Don't know how true this is but we're supposedly gonna try to get rid of contracts/players to clear enough cap space for Conley which is something i've been saying we should do.

Heading into play on Feb. 4, the Knicks reside in 10th place in the Eastern Conference and 3.5 games behind a postseason berth. With exactly two weeks until the NBA trade deadline, team president Phil Jackson must soon make one of the most difficult calls for any executive: Buy or sell?

If the Knicks do buy, don't expect Jackson to hurt the future cap space of a 23-28 team that likely would be one-and-done in the NBA playoffs. If Jackson chooses to sell, however, it could be with an eye on this summer—specifically a run at Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley, per a New York Post report:

The candidates would include point guard Jose Calderon and disappointing big man Kyle O'Quinn. Both of their departures would open up much-valued cap space for 2016, when Jackson has visions of making his next big splash by possibly inking Memphis point guard Mike Conley. They could need more cap space to do so as they would have just $18 million to work with if nobody opts out.

With the rise of Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony's healthy, bounce-back season, the Knicks are on the uptick. Although it would be hard to walk away from a potential trip to the postseason, moving on from Calderon or O'Quinn wouldn't hurt much now and could set the wheels in motion for a big summer.

Anybody notice Conley is having a down year? Yet everyone wants to throw the bank at him. I think he's a guy on the downside just like the rest of his teammates in Memphis. We'd be suckers to spend that money on him.

I agree, if the pg that we get is not at least a 40% shooter from DT, it's not worth it. grant's lack of perimeter shooting is one of our major major problems. I know we talk about a guard that penetrates, but with the way this offense runs, how many open perimeter shots do galloway, AA, and Grant brick.

Even if grant was a decent 35% 3 point shooter, it would make a world of difference

So if we can't get a PG that's at least a 40% shooter from 3 it isn't worth it but if Grant can be decent and shoot 35% then he'd be worth it?? I don't get it.

athletes typically max out at age 28.

Go look at his numbers, and their trajectory. They're all pretty much starting to trend downward.

we can get vet leadership cheaper. keep Calderon.

If we were 3 years in the future, then he might be our missing piece.

But we're not and he's not.

Just say no.

Gotta say..not impressed. Having down year and would not want to see Knicks pay him max money.

NJO Sports is a legitimate site. That was where the story you posted linked to. I am not sure about the Inquisitor.

Conley was outplayed by Jose last night. Not worth $25 million per.
