I like Rambis as he is experienced, had experienced adversity, and might be well received as he is part of the family.

would come back but his concepts are compatible with the triangle. Doubt Melo would like that either.

Spoelstra might disagree. Thibs had the Bulls contending year in and year out without their MVP for most of that stretch. Nothing stagnant about him. You would actally prefer Shaw over Thibs, why because he's a company man?
Logically, It's gotta be Thibs. The coaching tree thing didn't work, a relative NOOB in Walton (though successful due to Championship roster) would be a tough sell to our dejected players..
Melo almost played with Thibs, Thibs wanted Melo as his final piece in Chicago. Thibs would LOVE to coach a phenom like KP.
If Phil could help Thibs work with his roster management to prevent overuse...this would be a killer tandem.
Thibs is a very bright guy...he could run triangle and put his own spin easily.

I think we should bring in Gene Hackman. He did a great job of getting his best player, Jimmy Chitwood, to buy in and commit to the 4 pass system. I also nominate Dennis Hopper (shooter) as his unconventional wacky sidekick and lead assistant. If Hackman can lead a bunch of small town kids to the championship game, just think what he could do with our Knicks!

Don't know about Hackman, but Hopper would have to be represented by a photo in the coach's office, because, sadly, he's been dead since 2010.
Not sure- not Shaw though. I'd like a bit of experience and someone with an air of authority. And someone who can actually make great strategic adjustments- I honestly can't remember the last time we made a half time adjustment that gave us the upper hand- feels like its always the other team that adjusts and we never counter.
I like Thibs a lot, not sure if he's the right fit though.

And Walton strikes me as a West Coast guy, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him pull a Kerr and pick a Western Conference team. I wouldn't be surprised if he went to the Lakers to coach them. Needless to say, him coming here is a long-shot. But he does remind me a lot of a young Phil Jackson and so I'd welcome him with open arms.

Why? Successful teams are the ones who think ahead of the curve. All too often, the Knicks have thrown big money at HOF types only to find out that the game had passed them by (see Larry Brown and Lenny Wilkens). Walton is young and apart of a new generation that will set the tone for what championship types will look and play like. Give me that guy over any re-thread.
