I think Chicago, LA Clippers and maybe Washington are the only teams Melo would agree to waive his no trade.

No sure I want DRose - he seems pretty much done. Though I guess his contract only goes til 2017.

I love Portis though.

No supporting cast, Bum Shoulder, Bum Knee
It comes a time when you just gotta let it go....

FYI: knee injuries get worse with time (See ewing, tmac, steve francis, Etc)

He hasn't had an issue with his shoulder since the Pacers series. Also, he seemed to be rounding into form before the ankle sprain and then playing 49 and 42 minutes consecutively on a bad ankle. The knee may get worse but he may also heel. He is getting older but to this point this Knicks team can't win without him.

A dream offseason...

1.) A 3-team trade involving the Bulls, Clippers and Knicks:
LAC receives Carmelo Anthony and Nikola Mirotic
CHI receives Blake Griffin
NYK receives Jimmy Butler and CJ Wilcox

2.) A 3-team trade involving the Pelicans, Celtics and Knicks:
BOS receives Robin Lopez
NOP receives Kristaps Porzingis, Jerian Grant, Cleanthony Early, the rights to Willie Hernangomez, a 2016 first round pick (BOS via DAL) and a 2018 first round pick (via NYK)
NYK receives Anthony Davis

3.) Sign Kevin Durant to a max contract.

....that core of Jimmy Butler-Kevin Durant-Anthony Davis would be tantalizing. I do wonder if they are good enough shooters and at moving without the ball to mesh but defensively, they'd be fantastic. And given their relative age, they'd have more than enough time to continue to develop and grow as a unit.

so the knicks basically give up melo for butler? sweeeeeeeeet!

I take a pass on all those deals. This FA class is limited and Fournier is hardly a no brainier as he's restricted. If Afflalo and Williams drop off try to pick up a two way player like Lee or Fournier but save your dough as the money would be spent on the subsequent class. And we'll have a pick.
I'd among those who want Melo to pack but for a very serviceable established rotation player and
And a solid first rounder. Would Melo and Lopez fetch BUTLER ?
Butler/KP/Wroten/Batum (or Fournier)
And Hernangomez/ Thomas Grant Early Galloway have to step up. We would need help up front more than OQuinn so perhaps Taj Gibson is a part of that deal.

I wonder what we'd do, as a board, without you re-stating earlier made points.

Is a Melo Lopez and Calderon for Butler and Noah feasible? (Or did the two NCAA blowouts cloud my judgment?)

Noah/KP/Butler/Batum/Wroten
Grant/Galloway/OQuinn/Thomas/Hernangomez
Early/Seraphin/

Assume AMUNDSON/Williams/Afflalo/Melo/Calderon/Lopez n Sasha gone

...so you'd pass on 3 all-stars that are younger than 30? (My bad for swagjacking, mreinman)

For what it"s worth, Melo isn't going to a Chicago team with Derrick Rose and without Jimmy Butler, Pau Gasol as well as Joakim Noah. That squad would be worse than what we currently have.

oh and of course ... lets give up every player (including freaking KP) and a first round picks for Anthony Davis. How about you throw in your left teste?

C'mon man ... do you think these are rational suggestions? They are insane.

How is this altogether different than what BOS did to acquire a 30-ish KG? We'd be getting the new version at 24 years old.
