Knicks · Would you swap Calderon for Iman?????? (page 1)

Knicks1969 @ 2/15/2016 7:29 PM
This is just a crazy question, but remember that Phil did say that he liked Shumpert a lot. Now that the dude is available, and we have a serious need at PG, would you be open to do the exchange? I would do anything to see Jose gone
EnySpree @ 2/15/2016 7:30 PM
No....

Iman is not a good basketball player

wargames @ 2/15/2016 7:32 PM
Idk. 4/40 for Iman is way to much, but the Knicks need guard help that bad.

I got to say No though. Cap Space is better.

A dude who can defend. Shump and Mosgov for Jose and KO??

nixluva @ 2/15/2016 7:36 PM
It's kind of interesting cuz at the very least Iman would help on D but i'm not sure how much he hurts on offense. We already have Gallo who does a lot of what Iman does but is more clutch shooting. We need something different IMO. We need someone closer to what Shved gave us but with more D. We need a quick slashing guard that can get to the rim and push the ball. Gotta be able to make good passes and shoot acceptably well. They don't have to be a great shooter or great passer but they shouldn't be like Iman in those areas IMO. That said i'd probably make that trade in a split second.
EnySpree @ 2/15/2016 7:38 PM
Shumpert and his defense is highly overrated. We had the dude a few years. That's long enough to stop the bullshit with his defense. Who Has he stopped? Nobody. He's not locking down anyone. He might come up with one nice defensive play a week. Other than that he gets torched just like anyone else. That's why he's on the trading block. The Cavs realized he's a fraud too. When will Knick fans?

I don't really care for Iman, but he is better than Jose. I just want see how fans feel about the dude

Yeah but we're talking about Iman vs. Jose here. LOL. Iman's Defensive Rating is 103 this year and Jose's is 109. Not saying Iman would be a net positive given his poor offense but he is a better defender and would no doubt help this team with the bigs we have behind him.

I still would not want Shumpert because Calderón would drop 30 pts on him and people would still say he was a defensive wiz. Calderón knows the game and is better for chemistry. Shump is an arrogant no it all that hasn't gotten better since he's been in the league. His jump shot isn't even worth mentioning and please don't use that argument to say that he has improved. Dudes basketball IQ is terrible. His attitude is detrimental to chemistry.

OK but Iman's offensive rating is 93 and Iman's is 116. Would you give up 23 points on offense to get 6 points back on defense? If so, I have a ten dollar bill that I'd like to sell you for 40 bucks.
WaltLongmire @ 2/15/2016 8:10 PM
His contract is going to be a deal killer for many teams...and this is before you even discuss his limitations as a player.

As I said in another thread...Cavs overpaid him...they see that he isn't that good and won't help them take the next step...and now they want to dump him.

Why do you need him when Dellavedova is a better player, anyway.

Not much else to say on the matter, other than the fact that there is no way in hell the Jackson would take him back.

Dude, just provide an opinion and finish with it. What is dumb for you may not be for others. Shump had a lot of fans around here when he was a knicks

This deal would never happen.

Shumpert is a 7/8th man making 10MM, can dribble, shoot or stay healthy. Phil found two guys that teams would barely put on a roster in Thomas and Galloway. He hasn't and won't overpay for marginal talent.

HofstraBBall @ 2/15/2016 8:43 PM
Makes lot of sense. Phil would trade one of his only chips for a guy he traded for a handful of dirt.

Fixed it...
WaltLongmire @ 2/15/2016 9:33 PM
Sadly, since he was our pick, Shump is not a PG, or even a suitable "lead" guard at this point in his career...Nobody would put him in charge of an offense.
CrushAlot @ 2/15/2016 9:46 PM
Nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
NardDogNation @ 2/15/2016 9:50 PM
I see Shumpert being moved to the Kings. They are bad enough defensively and poorly managed enough to trade for the guy.

Shumpert (CLE) and Brandon Wright (MEM) to the Kings. Wright should theoretically be a good compliment to DeMarcus Cousins.
Timofey Mozgov (CLE) and 2nd round picks (SAC) to the Grizzlies to fill in for the injured Marc Gasol.
Koustas Koufus (SAC) and Ben McClemore to the Cavs. I don't really understand how either team fits into their general team concept but they are reportedly interested in both.
