If not, I want to know why. We are in desperate need to find a PG, as well as, a starting SG. We are not going to be able to truly upgrade if we don't put assets on the table. It is unfortunate that the previous coach chose not to play consistently some of our guys (KO, Williams, Grant), as a result we can't truly tell how valuable they are, nor can the rest of the league. As far as I am concerned, the point guard position is so important, we are to trade some assets if we have, to fix that position. Why aren't we mingling RoLo and Thomas in a deal to get Teague or another serviceable PG??
Because GMs are not dumb enough to sacrifice an arm for a leg. And they aren't robotic in building a team as you are.
no he's not on the block, nor should he be. rolo is one of the best pieces we have on this team. you don't cut your nose to spite your face.

Is it easier to find a big or a PG? Will we be able to acquire one via the draft or FA in 2017????
Nobody knows who's on the block besides Phil and Mills. I have to think that the right offer could get any player we have besides KP and Melo of course.

yeah, unfortunetly the other guys dont hold much value to other teams. Gallo,dwill,and lance have value but i want to keep them since they are good pieces off the bench

As much as I like some of our boys, given that we don't have a draft pick, also the fact that not many talented PGs will be available next season, we have to part ways with some of our good assets to obtain a guy like Teague who can make the game easier for Carmelo and KP

RoLo is one of my favorite Knicks, but if a trade is out there that can help both the PG and SG spots, I would have no problem letting him go.
While I appreciate Rolo and bekieve Rambis will get more usage, I think Phil may want to bring in Gasol for Lopez and to the extent Gasol and KP (along with Melo or Blake) can attract Quakity FAs our front line w Gasol is more attractive than it would be with Rolo

But that's not really your OP proposition, nor is it even a suggestion of yours. Rolo, Grant for Teague and moving parts. You trade a decent prospect in Grant and a valuable role player C in Rolo and you wave around Teague who is a sure upgrade over Jose but I also recall Teague got outplayed by Jose in 2 losses for Atlanta. Where's the suggestion of a SG? And how do those salaries match up? And then what happens at C for the Knicks in the mean time? And then how do you upgrade the C spot cause KP ain't gonna be ready for it for another year or so?

If Gasol / KP and either Melo or Blake G are on board, and Calderon is moved, then $20 million could attract a Mike Conley. I hear that V Olapido maybe available as well. I don't know if D COLLISON is available but he's talented and considerably cheaper. If by trade I would tender Afflalo or either Thomas or Williams to secure a Quality guard. Yet my preference is to spend it on Batum.
RoLo is 27, and has all the qualities you want in a supporting big man next to Porzingis.
No reason to trade him, unless you are massively upgrading.
I'm sure Phil would trade him for a much better player, but it's not so black and white. Is there a better Center that fits on the market making around the same money? There's Dwight Howard, but Dwight would cost you far more than RoLo, he'd cost you two RoLo's financially. So that's the thing Phil is facing.
I like RoLo. Feel he's a great chemistry guy. Plays his role real well. Think our main problem this season has been the point guard position and Fisher's lack of experience as a coach.
I wouldn't trade Lopez, but I don't think I would feel that terrible with KOQ & Seraphin manning the middle for the rest of the season. Not if we're hoping to see KP eventually move to the 5 spot.
This season is already lost - yea, maybe we can make a run- but lets be honest with ourselves- remote at best, and the value of being swept in the first round is probably not worth what we might get back in the right deal.
I think my biggest hesitation to trading him is the message it sends to other FA's.
I mean, yes, we'll give you your money- but then flip you faster than it takes to find a neighborhood you want to live in?
Do you think it would go down well with future FAs if we started trading players a few months after they signed with us?

especially when their brother plays in town as well. The only way it goes down well is if you have insight into that players thinking- e.g., they feel like its a bad fit, and they want a new scene.
from a team building perspective Rolo is exactly the guy you want. When Willy comes next year I want him watching everything Lopez does. KP has also benefitted from playing next to Rolo. Tough physical player, great defense, boxes out every play, good positioning, good footwork and a couple years under 30.
Only way I trade Rolo is for a building block player or part of a package for a star.
