Phil mentioned Amundsen in his press conference and it sounded like he was thinking of him as a guy that is a part of the core. I don't get it but maybe he is just a really good locker room guy. There seems to be a fondness for both Lou and Sasha. I think Phil really likes Early as well.

i don't. I know there were rumors that the Knicks were looking at him and Frazier. Then the Wroten signing was reported.

I am sure that we talked to all their agents and there is a very strong probability that NY will not be near the top choices for a PG.

The Grizzlies was definitely a better opportunity for him. How do you know what he was or wasnt offered? We do know the team had reported interest, but the Grizzlies had every opportunity possible for him. Our guards stink and he probably wouldn't even play here.

The Grizzlies was definitely a better opportunity for him. How do you know what he was or wasnt offered? We do know the team had reported interest, but the Grizzlies had every opportunity possible for him. Our guards stink and he probably wouldn't even play here.
I don't know what he was or wasn't offered. I know he was not employed. Do you think he was holding out in hopes of a Mike Conley injury?

So why mention he wasnt offered a deal? But anyway, Conley has been having Achilles pain since January. Ray was cut from the Spurs the end of February. Ray being signed definitely coincides with Conley's injury. There is a definite minutes allotment for him there. Made perfect sense.

I posted the tweet where he said he was interested in signing with the Knicks. He didn't reject the Knicks he wasn't offered a deal. The Knicks chose Wroten.

Nice player. Not a world-beater, may never be an all-star, but he's solid. Has a pretty skilled/crafty vet style to him, like he's been in the league for a long time...Better skills than Langston Galloway imo, just to make a comparison. If it came down to signing this guy vs. Galloway, even for the small amount of money we're talking about (I believe we have a team option on Galloway for a little under $1mm next yr), I'd rather have McCallum (part of the overall backcourt improvement we need to make may involve cutting Galloway loose in favor of a better talent). So far I believe he's only signed to a 10-day contract. I hope he goes into the offseason as an UFA, even though I suspect Memphis will wind up signing him to a longer deal soon that will probably include an option to bring him back for next year, much like the rumored deal we have on the table with Wroten. I'd like to have a shot at him this summer, either to go with a couple of the bigger-money FA guards or in lieu of (who knows--say we strike out or choose to pass on the bigger-name guards). Could be a nice cost-effective option for us.
