Where he comes in for either sub 5 or 4 and plays 26-32 minutes off the bench? If we do this maybe we can keep Carmelo and start him at 4 Lopez at 5 and start building the guard positions. We need a chemistry change with Melo KP and Lopez--I dont mind at all if KP comes off the bench--he and the team might be a prisoner of his own success too early.
We can also look at other ideas for 4 in a Melo trade if that is the avenue--but I think it might be in the best interest of both team and player if KP is 6 or 7th man.
Great idea, in fact let's go one step further and send him to dleague for a year so he and grant can build up some chemistry together

Yeah jerian grant should've been in the d league a long time ago working on game rhythm especially in game shooting. It seemed to work out ok for Langston Galloway but I'm not sure of the mindset of the Knicks. We've been down double digits 13 out of the last 15 games.kp has gone south since we were 22-22 especially in the rebounding and defensive areas. This has cost some disconnect and a big reason why we are out scored in the paint a lot. We shouldn't try different line ups that might make some sense because we just want to sck It's ok for a player like Kevin Michael to come off the bench but not kp not good for his development. I mean dirk did not start year 1 but we are smarter than all other clubs we seem to got it down pact.

Yes, though I think its hard now to move him there now - he probably should have started the season off the bench.
Fans now would cry and complain irrationally.
I'm not saying to play him less minutes, necessarily.
Briggs.....for some reason you always find a way to repeat some of my earlier requests. Ive been saying this since preseason.....Melo at 31 is better as the 4.....KP is a rookie and shouldve been the 6 man. One hes a rookie......but more importantly he will be in a alpha role off the bench instead of playing second to melo. Kp and Melo need room to opperate.
We also learned this about melo when he was a SF next to amari and tyson. Thats the problem when melo has a different coach every year. Hes not the 20 year old melo....The SFs are just as strong plus a little quicker. At the 4 Melo will be able to get his man off balance with his speed plus hes just as strong. Dont forget he won the scoring title as a PF.
I think its better for both Melo and KP.....
You can always accomplish this when KP goes out early and bring him back as a Center the rest of the half.
The thing that I see is when Lance Thomas comes in, we essentially do that. However seems like Lance plays more of the stretch 4 role than Melo.
I think to truly accomplish this you need to get someone like Afflalo to play 3.
Perhaps bringing in Galloway or Grant (or a guard) for KP instead of Lance.
Lopez or Porzingis/Melo/Afflalo/Galloway/Grant is a lineup I like because it's quicker athletic and can even run the Triangle well IF Grant plays like he did the last 2 games on a consistent basis.
KP looks very tired, hope next season he will be in better shape

So you and Briggs think alike......now that's something to be proud of.

Of course he looks tired, he's a rookie that's never played more than i think 50 games in a season and has never played close to as many minutes as he plays in the NBA. He's supposed to be tired and this will get him more ready for next year.
Is there a prize for most initiated topics ?
Next topic.

Every 4 years, February has 29 days....Thats how often Briggs and I think alike.
With kp rolo and melo we really play 5-5-4 in a league that has gone small. It has NO chance of working
the main issue for me isn't chemistry it's fatigue. as a foreign rookie i had kp slated to play in the 18-22 mpg range at the start of the season. he is averaging closer to 28 minutes per game which is 25-30% more than one should have expected, and when rambis took over i believe kp played a few games of closer to 38 minutes.
you could have him sub in for either melo or lopez, i suppose. as a starter he is kind of low man on the totem pole in the triangle system, playing the power forward. but then you lose his defense, and with the knicks backcourt as it is the opponents would likely build early leads, forcing the bench to play catch up.
hence, on balance it is a bad idea.
Sometimes to make a great player you have to let them make mistakes. KP is going to be a very good player you have to live with his growing pains as a starter. It's like asking Ewing to be a sixth man he is the foundation of the franchise.
Agree with you BRIGGS.
Porzingis will be starting in this for a long time. Why bring him off the bench and let him be the focal point of the offense for that 2nd unit.
He would be the go to scorer in the unit which will only help his development.
Porzingis will be a trancedent center in this league but he needs to develop a more consistent post up game. With Lopez at center, he's restricted to being a permeated player.
Dude is ONLY 20yrs old! Who cares if he comes off the bench for at least the rest of this season.
Melo is a top 5 PF in the nba. Who know you may have a future front line of Durant, Melo & Porzingis.
That would be insane!
Let's let D.Williams start and earn his next contract. And let's run the following 2nd unit on the floor for the remainder of this season:
Pg: Grant
Sg: Gallo
Sf: L.Thomas
Pf: O'Quinn
C: Porzingis
O'quinn's muscle will move people away & Grant can play pick & roll all day with Porzingis

so you would start:
lopez
williams
melo
afflalo
calderon
based on one game in which there was no discernible triangle offense being run, just basic pick snd roll and isolation? and against a .500 team with a mediocre backcourt?
basically scrap the triangle entirely?

Im the only one that wouldve started that unit b4 they played any games....Its a little late in the game now. ....Sometimes a late season demotion can do more harm.
