Knicks · Listen to Chauncey Phil. (page 1)
It is not about what Melo need but about what Melo accepts.
Melo needs a guy like Billups who is a leader but not center of attention.
Where to get this one in generation player? And is Melo worth the search?
Example? Basically the entire free agent class of 2015, specifically Greg Monroe. He went out of his way that he had zero intrest in playing for the Knicks. Never in the conversation. Then he signs with the Bucks because he said they were a proven team. Fuck that dude because they have a worst record than the Knicks.
This is our reality. Teams wine trade with us either. They would rather make bad trades with other teams than make a bad one with us.

What? They don't need PG's? Sorry Kobe had a tiny Hall of Famer named Shaq, Horry and very good 3pt. Shooting. Lebron has Irving and had Mario Chalmers in his best years. And last I checked Westbrook not bad.
My take away was that no good PG will want to play in the Triangle and Melo's prime years are numbered and needs a good point guard. Like every team does. But what does he know. Just a former Champ. PG and future HOF.

Lebron is a PG

He's a former player and knows what is like to be slandered by the media. Now he's doing it and using his insider information as a former teamate. Also he's trying to bring the Knicks down too. Players holds Chauncey on a pedestal. If he says a point guard will not want to play in the triangle guys will follow that based on that alone. He's disgusting.
I think that he is great and refreshing. He was under appreciated as a player and now as a commentator.

Westbrook will be great in triangle in Kobe/Jordan role.

Melo is dinosaur himself from the era of ISO/half-court bbal. The style which was squashed by triangle and motion game.

It's better to fire Phil.... then murder Dolan. Only then can we get a real owner and a real GM that will hire Thibbs. We could sign Thibbs to a 10 year deal because we're going to need that much time to collect our own draft picks enough to finally get all star players to compete. So by 2021 the knicks could finally start making a run in the playoffs.
Refreshing shit that you daddy don't want to hear because he will die of old age before anything good happens with the Knicks.
By then 2021 Melo will be retired and commentatin . We'll hear him talk about how much Kristaps balls shrink in the shower that's why he can't lead the Knicks to the playoffs. It will be so refreshing.
CA is NOT a leader, it simply is not his game, but we need to be able to groom our players with respectable former players...
Talents such as Billups and Wallace who both played in NY in limited games
They both HAVE NEVER played in the Triangle but certainly would have FIT in the system and would have done very well in their primes...
Rasheed Wallace *would be great for KP and future PF/C's in the Triangle*
Billups *would be great for Galloway and Triangle PG's*
both FIT IN TRIANGLE and provide leadership, that can identify with the current players and have multiple skill sets, with versatile skill sets, high BB IQ, that fit in our system, that were LEADERS on that Detroit team that won 1 ring but were a dominant team with ALL STARS for about 5-6years together
other recent NBA players as development coaches
Shane Battier as a DEFENSIVE coach for our wings and the transition of NCAA to NBA players (as he was once the #1 goto man in Duke and played multiple different roles in his NBA career
Andrew Bynum *if we sign Whiteside*
Lamar Odom *would be great for a point forward such as David Lee*
Pau Gasol when he retires and was crucial with Odom with their versatility, ability to rebound, pass, within the Triangle
Add in Luke Walton as our head coach
other possible cap friendly players
If we can get Shabazz Muhammad to play point forward
Evan Turner as a backup point forward/SG, SF, who can replace Affallo, has improved his post up game
PJ Hairson *dont believe his team option was picked up*
Lance Stephenson *as a backup point forward, and bring in Brian Shaw who ran a bit of Triangle as the Pacers lead assistant*
DMO *has a very good post game but struggled this year as he is recovering from his surgeries*
Wesley Johnson/James Johnson with Lance Thomas *players that could defend multiple position*
Matt Barnes/Jared Dudley
David Lee/Josh Smith
Trevor Booker
Nene/Kris Humphries
Jeremy Lin would be a solid option at PG as well as many other contract friendly players while we maintain our cap flexibility for 2017 cream of the crop
With players such as Lowry/CP3/Curry *unlikely*, Blake Griffen, and many talents that would be attainable ONLY if we can lure Luke Walton over and show much improvements
Will CA opt out of his no trade clause this summer?
We are unlikely to compete for a ring but a deal with Boston and possibly Clippers or another team could help all 3 teams and is realistic....

we should extend phil and melo to 10 year triangle contracts. And give dolan lots of cuddly hugs. That should get us out of this mess.

Pure nonsense. As your original comparison was Melo to Kobe, Durant, and LBJ and their need for a PG. Which again, they had far better ones than the scraps you claim Melo has had. Not to mention, a small thing needed to win a chip, a complete team full of solid supporting cast. Unless you think what we have had the last two years is comparible to what the heat or Lakers had. You have to be joking.
And the topic was PG'S not coming here because of the triangle. My point last week, as it has been said by many arpund the league, now including CB, who still has a pulse on the NBA and knows a lot more than anyone here on the PG position and why PG'S would not want to play in it.

No doubt in my mind that Walton is the Lakers head coach next season if Scott doesn't come back. He has a much better chance of replicating the conditions that gave GS so much success in LA. Look at their backcourt. Russell is playing like I was confident he would. They will have tons of cap room, probably less Drama, although its still LA, lol.
Anyway, I have came to the conclusion a long time ago about the Knicks need of forgoing a pg as long as they run the triangle. This is why I am okay if they go after a two guard like Oladipo who can guard pgs and handle the minimal playmaking duties. Basically, a shorter Ron Harper. Going that way would increase the need for a Batum like player at the two who can also create for others.

+1. Some fans on this board just don't get it. The Knicks roster and the Triangle are the fat ugly 40 year old girl that thinks she is still single because no one gets her. Why the heck would a solid PG or top free agent come here. And let alone any good coach that would become the next puppet?

Maybe another reason why the triangle can hurt you. Underestimates the need for a true PG. So many reasons but all we have to look back to is the Boston game. The lack of one in last two minutes caused confusion, turnovers and lack of direction. Specially the last 34 seconds when we expected a guy on 40 min. and beat up knees to bring ball up the floor and create a play. Just unrealistic.
