This is a video, but I think Beck is once again right on the money.

Last season, he tried to do this and suggested the Knicks would not be able to get superstars in free agency and should instead focus on Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo and Thad Young. He nailed two out of three.

This season he is saying Knicks should pursue Brandon Jennings (my #1 realistic target at this point) and Kent Bazemore (maybe realistic, maybe not)

If the Knicks can do that and keep Afflalo and DWill off the bench, that's a pretty strong squad. Stretch Calderon to get $5M in cap room to make it work.

If Wroten works out, all the sudden we are kinda deep at the guard spots again. Deep enough to play small effectively.

PG - Jennings, Grant, Wroten
SG - Bazemore, Afflalo, Galloway
SF - Melo, Lance
PF - KP, DWill
C - Rolo, KOQ

Sign me up for this.

that would be cool for a regular system, a real coach, and a regular rotation, but like so many people have acknowledge, you need a super star sg, and a dominate big man to make the triangle a success. we haven't seen it work any other way. It has failed embarrassingly with out right parts.

Who are we kidding, kobe and MJ did all the penetration, not kerr, fisher, farmer, sasha or any other pg.

If it was that important to have a pg, phil would have went with mudaiy in last yrs draft.

Phil knew the type of player calderon was before he got here, he was never a PG that penetrated, he was a PnR pg who can knock down open 3's solid mid range shooter, good floor leader, high character.

The style of play needs changing way way more then the actual talent.

I tend to agree with you. Jennings is not the Pg for this system. That said, I think he would play well in NY but so would (and has) Lin.
I think Batum could be a great piece here - too bad we can't get a younger version of him as we are a bit away...

lol. maybe just maybe an 8th seed

Not even unless KP makes a leap. Bazemore and Jennings aren't upgrades over what we have now and what we have now sucks.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Both of them are better than any guard we have now and that's a fact.

I am interested in why do you not think a healthy Jennings and Bazemore is not an upgrade over AA/Jose?

I am not a fan of Jennings and doubt Bazemore would want to come to NY. Plus, I am not sure bout rolling the dice on a one hit wonder so old but I do think they would be upgrades over AA and Jose if Jennings were healthy and Bazemore kept up his level of play. Despite that Jennings would have to come at a real discount for me to want him on the Knicks and despite Bazemore superior rebounding I would rather the knicks go after Crabbe or Fournier

Jennings has been a below average player his entire career. He can't shoot at all, a career 41% from 2, 35% from 3, 45% eFG, and 49% TS, and he doesn't get enough assists to make up for his lack of shooting. And he's not a good defender. He's like a worse version of Ray Felton.

Bazemore is a decent shooter but not a great one that does nothing else on offense. And he's not that good a defender. He's basically Shumpert.

Wow you really don't know much about basketball do you?? It just seems like you're just saying stuff just to say it. So you think R.Felton is better than B.Jennings and that Bazemore isn't a good defender?? You're wrong on both of them.

In the H.Beck piece that was what this thread was started with he said the Knicks should get both B.Jennings and K.Bazemore with the $20 million they'll have in free agency cause of the cap rise and now it's somehow gotten to Jennings getting $12-$14 million. WTF is going on around here??

I think that's what it will take to sign Jennings. Look at deals for PGs around this league. Dragic got 4yr $80M. Bledsoe got 4yr $78M or something. Getting Jennings for 4yr $60M would be a bargain.

Jennings and Felton are about the same level. And I didn't say Bazemore is a bad defender, I said he's overrated. He's probably a little worse than Shumpert defensively but a little better offensively. Neither one has any significant positive effect on the team.

I agree About Jennings and Felton being on similar levels when Jennings is healthy. As to Bazemore, if he is like Shumpert on defense then he would be a valuable pick up if you believe in his efficiency. Shump's TS% high is not on the same level as Bazemore's high. The issue for Bazemore fans is do you think he is worth the gamble and for Jennings fans the issue is price.

To me Jennings is a mid level exception two year deal type player who needs to have a good season or two to before he gets more money. Bazemore is a $10m or less guy but I think he'll get more than that by someone.

We should have IMPROVEMENT from KP(strength and inside skills) and Grant next year. Overloading the team with secondary vets did not work this year and its really a stop gap. Id rather rebuild if we can and have the guys stay together 7-10 years.

hard to build without draft picks o assets to get up and coming players. might as well settle for short term stop gap players
