This is why I say we need to trade Carmelo and rebuild. I dont see us doing much more than this year--we have way to many question marks I cant even come close to filling out the roster--so exactly how do you win that way with no draft picks and what amounts to the 20 position cash wise in free agency?

I know it's easy to just hate for the sake of hating but the facts and stats show Porzingis has been just as good in post ups (slightly better actually) as he has been in jumpshot/spot ups.

There was also a statistic in an article showing that on the right block KP's points per possession is over 1 on post ups, which is insanely good.

The Boston Celtics used to bring in Kevin Mchale for chemistry reasons off the bench and they won championships that way. I DO NOT think KP Lopez and Carmelo is an effective defensive team in transition and it wont get better. A way to get around that is to bring KP off the bench so we can keep 2 of the 3 in there most of the game.

After that--Ive heard no one tell me about roughly 10 roster spots that have no name next to them.

yeah ... just saw this a few minutes ago now that you got me searching but the data like everything else on the site is so confusing and poorly organized / designed.

I sorted by team and then freq and of course the knicks were dead last but I am still not sure about the data and how it is presented.

What I was referring to was the video showing Porzingis making a ridiculous shot from near the entrance. That's good and all, but the statistics(even his raw 3 ball percentage isn't too great) show he's a good shooter but not a great one. People want him to become the next Curry or Dirk, but the raw stats so far show that he isn't that type of shooter. I think the coaches and Phil have understood his strengths much better. They see a guy that can get the 3 ball or outside jumpshot anytime he wants and he should take them. However his game should go way beyond that. Post ups. Cuts. Drives. All good for him as he has an advantage in length and size. If we play him at 4, he has arguably the biggest mismatch on most nights in the paint.

He's going to take some time, but it'll come together for him. Look forward to seeing where his game is in 2 years from today.

i'd also go after horford and fournier.

I love Horford but he's no spring chicken and the two injury history may portend a rapid decline. Which would be a shame he is a criminally underrated center who is perfect for the modern NBA (not like that matters on the triangle loving Knicks--but whatever I'm sure he'd be great wherever he plays).

We don't re-sign Afflalo and we stretch Calderon, cap estimate is $95M now - that gives us $36M in cap room. $12M Jennings, $15M Batum, $3M Hernangomez, we can go over the cap to sign Lance, DWill and Galloway.

for me it's about defensive length, a willingness to pass the ball, and depth. i wouldn't expect him to play more than 24-28 minutes a game. he is an excellent defender according to drpm and his usage to assist ratio is elite. perfect triangle player.

the knicks acquire turner and horford it would be a HUGE offseason. in fact i'm going to make it my sig right now.

fournier -wont be available. thats why orlando traded away harris - so they can resign him
