Just adding to my previous comments about the best way to defend Curry by not giving him the room to operate that most teams do. My intitial comments werent about the Spurs, just so happened they played Curry closer to the way I would have.
Leonard is the best defender in the league and they had 3 guys running at him all night. Won't always work but its worth a try
Leonard (or any other player in this league) isnt considered the best shooter in NBA history. Curry just needs a little daylight to get a shot off from almost anywhere, so you give him as little as possible. Not sure why this is so controversial.

Look at how close they played him the entire game, when they switched, the next defender stayed glued to Curry, even without the ball. Its not just making it harder to get a good look, but its also getting him out of his comfort zone. Lots of teams, even some of the top defensive teams, don't do consistently what the Spurs did last game.
well it also helps that they have the best defensive guard in the league and the smartest coach in the league.
Also, many shots curry just missed ... this is what happened in the beginning of the cleveland series. And, a depleted GS front line did not help curry burn the constant triple teams.
This is why I would want to see how the teams adjust in a seven game series.
I will take one above average defender playing Curry as close as possible, forcing him to put the ball on the floor, than 2-3 guys standing too far to make a difference.
If I have a choice between maybe the best shooter ever shooting at will, or forcing him to put the ball on the floor and run into help D, I'll take the latter. Watch how much space many teams give Curry to shoot, do whatever he wants. Makes no sense.

no ... nothing at all to do with advanced stats. SA is just as advanced in analytics as GS and perhaps even more advanced. And Leonard is up there right under curry (crazy!).

J/K. I know its one game and most days Curry will get his, but there is nothing that can shake me from believing that you have to make Curry work harder to get his looks. When I see a defender standing a good 5-6 feet from Curry, thats the problem right there.

I hear you but its so much more complicated than that. The picks and going over them at 30 feet is a nightmare. Really no way to defend him. He needs to just be off or they need to triple team him and hope everyone else is off.

Too many great shooters left open on a triple team. You have to get inside Curry's head and take away his space IMO. Having someone right up in his grill the entire game does more to throw him off than anything else Ive seen. No easy task.
