Today's players are too skilled and athletic. Yes, many of yester-years stars would translate just fine in today's game, but the average rotation player would not. Today the league is faster, more athletic, and has much more depth. The players get better, not worst. GS would run circles around any championship teams from previous decades.

Not true. Not one of these players are as skilled and athletic as Jordan and Pippen in their prime. Maybe Lebron, but you think Curry could get off those ridiculous shots off with Jordan(9 ALL NBA DEFENSIVE FIRST TEAMS AND 1 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR) and Pippen(8 ALL NBA DEFENSIVE FIRST TEAMS, 1 SECOND TEAM) face guarding him all day? These guys were like Draymond Green before Draymond was fashionable. They could guard 3 or 4 positions like an octopus, then punish you on the offensive end. And I won't even bring up Rodman who won back to back defensive player of the year awards in Detroit before leading the league in rebounding for 7 years straight.

Get off your recency bias high horse. Warriors, though great, are a product of their no hand check no breathing on offensive player era.

jordan could not stop curry ... nobody can. With his dribbling and retarded range? You kidding me?

Which era are we playing in? 90s or now? And if we're playing today, who's to say Phil doesn't go small and insert Kukoc at center who could drain 3s and dish with the best of them.

Which era we are playing in is always why these arguments are impossible. I do believe that Bulls team with Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc, and Harper offers versatility for an era and could adjust just fine today. But the issue i have is the depth. Ultimately i personally don't believe anyone else on that 1996 roster would be anything more than a fringe NBA player when compared to today's players. GS is a deep team, which separates them from a team like the Bulls. Bulls had the best player of all time, and a couple others HoF's, but after their top 5, you can't convince me anyone else is a solid NBA player today, and that's the difference. The talent level of teams in the 90s does not compare to today.

It's not just hall of famers, but the best arguably at each position. Jordan best of all time and best shooting guard at his position. Pippen is Draymond on steroids. He out Draymonds, Draymond. He's the prototype for point forward and a top 50 greatest player. Rodman averaged 18 boards for like 3 or 4 season in a row...that's just unheard of. Kukoc was one of greatest Euro players the NBA has seen and actually won the 6th man of the year in 96.

You can talk about the GS bench all you want, but the Bulls weren't just top heavy, they had all time greats playing in their primes at those positions. Curry could get to all time great status one day, but Klay and Draymond are leagues away from Pippen and Rodman status.

Nalod @ 3/18/2016 1:01 PM
Warriors are letting Curry do stuff most coach's would not have permitted. Maravich horrified coach's and his teammates hated him. Curry is in a new era or basketball tolerance. Earl Monroe did not have the range, but there was no 3pt shot. He was always reigned in. The Logo had no 3pt line either. He would have stretched it. Back then the big man ruled the earth.

Curry is not the greatest ever skill wise. Pete Maravich was. He had the range as well. No 3pt shot then either. Pete was an alcoholic and manic depressed. Today he would be on meds, in therapy, and not vilified for his ball hogging ways. He's be celebrated. Pete played in the era of tough men and he got the snot knocked out of him.

IM not taking a damn thing away from Curry, kudos to what he is doing on the court. Jordan was a sociopath winner, Kareem the most fundmentally gifted big man and Wilt the most dominant physical presence. All of their Era's. Curry is surrounded by shooters so the middle is open for him to penetrate. All the great ones played on really good or great teams at some point. It enhances. Pete's knee was toast by the time he was on the Celtics.

the teams and strategies / offensive scheme are better now. The bulls were not build for speedball. Speedball trumps slow ball.

Can't Kukoc just shoot over him or dish to a cutter like did in the 90s? Smartball beats speedball.

No because Dray is smart speedy and one of the best defenders that I have seen. Kucoc would need to go back to europe.

Dude! I am really surprised by you. Kucoc is miles and miles from dray and dray may at this point be as good or better (whoa!!) than Pippen but thats obviously arguable and dray needs to do it for a lot longer to be compared (for now lets talk about this year against a top year of pippens).

Nobody respected dray because they were clueless, and now finally people are realizing but still under estimating him because they are still a bit clueless.

If the bulls played today, they would run a diff offense and be built differently. No way that team could guard GS. Of course Curry could not guard Jordan either but he would not be guarding him. It would by Iggy or alike.

People who doubt how good they are compared to teams from other eras have yet to adjust to the fact that this team just looks so different. Great teams are supposed to look a certain way, and golden state looks completely opposite. Everyone thought they were just a great regular season team until they won a title, now that they are dominating the league like we have never seen before, people are justifying it by saying the league has changed so much and they are only dominating because the league has changed in their favor. Well of course it has changed, but it doesn't take anything away from what these guys are doing. They look different, dominate different, and with that will be doubt from those who think a team is supposed to have a specific look to them.

This is a fair and balanced statement that I can agree with. It's all the hyperbole about them being the best ever that is hard to stomach because ultimately only time & history will really be the judge of that.

I guess though its always arguable.

I can tell you that Curry is having the best season that I have ever seen from any players and its not even remotely close.

This is a fair and balanced statement that I can agree with. It's all the hyperbole about them being the best ever that is hard to stomach because ultimately only time & history will really be the judge of that.

history won't tell us anything. They will never play each other.

If they can 3 peat like the Bulls or Lakers, they may start to be in the conversation of greatest teams ever. 2 peat and they'll just be a very good team.

Hey Lebron 2peated! Ain't nothing wrong with that.

maybe ... not a perfect gauge but I guess a fair one. They have to win it all this year.

If they lose to the Spurs in the playoffs, all the records they set...throw that shyt out the window.

so when the lakers and boston were both great teams in an era, did that disqualify both of them from being considered one of the top teams of all time?

Lakers won 5 in the era, Boston won 3. Faced each other several times. San An has 5 rings under Popovich. Golden State 1.

Not sure your point.

no I get that but if GS (who I agree has to win a couple of more rings) is playing when SA is here, its not an easy thing to compare. How does SA compare with those other teams? Wouldn't that have to be answered first?

If cleveland beats them then that is telling because cleveland is weak in my opinion.

Yea if Cleveland somehow makes it to the finals and beats GS this year, definitely puts a kibosh on the whole GOAT team discussion for sure.

If San An does it, it's a little more palatable considering it's the legendary Pop.

Either way, even if GS steam rolls to a back to back championship run, they still have to run it back for a 3 peat to be even considered.

So even if they get that 73 wins, they still have to finish the task at hand this season and do it again once more next season to leap frog or overthrow some of those great teams.

Even with the 73 in the books and a conceivable 3 peat, they're not in the conversation of the 90s Bulls. They would have to match 6 or more titles within a decade.
