Knicks · Knicks should sit/ shut down Carmelo (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 3/19/2016 11:42 PM
And start Jerian Grant and Derrick Williams for the rest of the year. The Knicks have some kind of believe that they will build some sort of momentum but it's simply not happening the way the team is. In fact if anything positive happens it will be with a big switch in line ups. There is NO value playing Carmelo even one more minute-- any risk of him getting hurt is not worth it-- we are officially out of the playoffs and certainly we are seen as a bad team as is. So let's get maximum value-- play Grant and Williams big minutes cut off Calderon and maybe we can bring in 1-2 d league guys to take a look at. Absolute zero value going as is nothing

Melo maybe out tomorrow. His choice because of a migraine.
I wish the Knicks waived someone for another roster spot. Tim Frazier appears to be playing really well for the Pelicans. Terrico White is playing really well in the d league. Tremendous athlete that has a jump shot now.
arkrud @ 3/20/2016 12:28 AM
Don't you know that team and players have sponsors and bunch of ticket are sold to a bunch of tourists?
Show must go on at MSG at regular schedule and all lead clowns must be present and continue with the script.

Key word is should. Will they? Hell no.

Dolan needs an attraction for the tourists to see and Rambis is somehow auditioning for Phil and other teams.

Real Knicks fans lose as usual.

I don't know about this. Maybe limit Melo's minutes. Playing almost 40 minutes in a game where the outcome was known on the first night of a back to back doesn't make sense to me but not playing him isn't fair if you bought tickets. My parents moved outside of Syracuse after they retired and unlike here Melo is huge there. If fans bought tickets to see Melo and he didn't play it would be a huge disappointment. I live outside of Rochester now and LBJ played in a preseason game here in his second or third year and didn't play. He stood up once like he was going in, got a huge cheer and then sat back down. I didn't go to that game but friends of mine did and they were very disappointing. Melo should play but he shouldn't bust the 35 minute mark anymore. In regards to Rambis wtf? Next!

The thing is whether Melo plays 0 minutes or 40 minutes, doesn't matter. Outcome is the same. Ultimately a Knick loss, and more wear and tear on our trade chip.

Need to start auditioning players to see who'll stick with the team.

The Knicks are 6-20 WITH melo the last 26 games. Exactly how much worse can they be without him? T

Sure things suck but they were 0-6 without him back in January when it still looked like they were going to compete for a playoff spot.

I mainly watch for KP and the kids. We know what MELO brings. The team is not the complete disaster that some believe. There are aspects of the team that are good but the holes make the team unable to finish games and get wins. I hope MELO plays because I think he does help KP.
GustavBahler @ 3/20/2016 3:48 PM
Wouldn't mind it myself, better for all sides whether Melo stays or agrees to be traded. It would also take Rambis out of the conversation for the next head coach. Many of us want Thibs to get the job. Nix is confident that he will get the job, if he's right considering their history, he will have a good reason to gloat!

I have no idea what Phil will do, but I thank Melo for floating the idea of a thorough coaching search because no one else in the organization probably would have, unless it was Dolan.

Agree. But that would be a smart decision. Knicks don't make those.

What is up with Grant and Rambis? Calderon gets hurt again and Grant only gets 3 mins

Melo has to play the games. If he shuts it down you might as well call him washed up goods. His value depreciates with each game he doesn't play in the trade market. I say ride Melo out to the end of the season.
Moonangie @ 3/20/2016 5:05 PM
Actually, the Knicks play bore cohesively sometimes when Melo sit out. I attribute this to a freer flow and not wanting to make an unfavorable impression on the leader.

so which kids are you enjoying? I don't see nearly enough of any kids. We have zero chance to make a run. Why are we not bringing in lots of guys for test runs?

One of those kids plays 3 minutes. The younger guys barely get any run.

They do play better as a group because they have to soak up the usage, minutes, and shots, which is more opportunities for them. problem is, the team isn't nearly as good without him...thus they are winless.
