Call Dolan to tell him that he want to trade Melo for 7-9 guards and 5-9 good players
Is that all we're getting?
Yellow... this will only work if those guards at 6'4-6'7 and have various skill sets.
And only if they're all willing to sign one group contract for no more than the MLE. In total.
We need our cap space for all the stars that will flock here once Melo leaves.
I believe he's throwing jabs at Briggs with this thread.... I appreciate the laugh

We don't need so many security guards....

We sure could use some good players who are only 5-9 though. Tough to guard.

That would be a rapid improvement already. Even if we get 1 midget in return, it will be a turnaround in wins over this continued misery.
he should retire, and head to Woodstock with rambust, and his triangle goons..
a system that produce 80 points pg
a system the forbids fast break
a system that produces nothing but mid range shots
a system that has the team with the slowest pace in the league
a system that clogs the paint 75% of the time
a system that everyone touches the ball, but the last person has to hit a desperation shot with 2 sec on the shot clock
a system that no coach wants to run
a system built for a super star SG and Center
a system that turns pgs into d leaguers
a system that's sure to bring down a players shooting %
but I guess we should trade melo, that's going to change all of the above

We have the big players--we dont need anything there. We dont need Melo--what we need is cumulative assets to rebuild the backcourt with the ability to play 3 guards in most sets. I like the bigger guards--although we could fit in a Felder if we had a low 2 and he dropped as a second team PG. If we were able to get a Hield a Grayson Allen a Brogdon--with another guard from the NBA in a trade--pair it up with a good draft pick next year---thts a complete rebuild. If we hire Walton--I think he can implement a lot of what GS has in terms of system. Carmelo is bad money right now--putting NBA player who are 30+ on top of Carmelo is BAD investment.
Looking at things the old way--oh man lets pay Branden Jennings 12mm and a secondary free agent like Bazemore 8mm to go with melo-it hasnt worked wont work. Just wasting time. Going with melo is a waste of time.

"We have the big players" - queue up 25 threads that Lopez stinks, followed by another 18 threads that KP and Lopez cant play together
"I like the bigger guards" - except Darren Collison is one of the best defensive guards in the league and queue up 12 threads about how good the Knicks would be with Isiah Thomas
I would give you points on being consistent on trading Melo but you started the year with a different tune there also.
I heard D.Fisher is a free agent and knows the triangle.....not sure of his exact height though.

KP and Lopez can work with 3 guards. The line up of KP Lopez and Carmelo is WAY to slow. This is a time when you sell--the Knicks need to sell and revamp. Time to make Carmelo feel that he should move on. Catering to him is dumb--we CANNOT win big with him--not happening.
Fishmike you were pretty high on the Knicks winning 45 games about 20 games ago. We will NEVER win 45 games with Carmelo--that is something that has become apparent. As a fan when you see the first sign of some kind of life--you want to believe or slightly adjust---NOPE this needs a big change and a big adjust. But we have some pieces in place--if we execute this could change nicely quick as well.
