Knicks · Part time Jeremy Lin, BETTER than any NY pg, past 2 yrs (page 2)
It was never about talent. It was about consistency, and the willingness to put in the time to make that happen. Lin decided to put the time into his hair.

Thats exaggerated. Lin would still be a knick if he didn't flip his contract in the lady minute by signing in Houston with that poison pill contact.
Also you been a knick fan to long to say we deserve where we are because how we treated Lin. Sounds like you are still in high school with no other knick memory to draw from.
I still think Melo ran him out of town, dude became bigger than Melo and Melo don't like some one stepping on his brand.
This. Also, it is always puzzling to me how Lin is judged when he went for the most money he could and signed the contract the Knicks couldn't match yet he is portrayed as a victim that was chased out of town. I have nothing against guys trying to get the most money they can in their careers and I am sure the nbapa wants them to do that but I don't understand how one player can cash in and be considered a heroic martyr that was forced to leave and other guys are considered greedy me before the team guys when they sign a contract. It is a business, and there have only been two poison pill contracts since their inception. By design signing a poison pill contract either forces your team to let you go or forces your team to put themselves in a very bad financial spot.

It's a shame that after all these years we still have to explain this again like it just happened. It sucks the life outta the forum.
All bullshit aside, Lin would be a perfect fit for the Knicks now. He's a scoring point guard that can play on or off the ball. He's poised and experienced. The Knicks are under Phil's control. We're running system basketball. Lin would fit perfect with the current situation. I think Melo would have no problem bringing him in. The goal is to win a championship now.

Melo encouraged MDA? Where did you get that from. I'm gonna go with what Amare had to sayhttp://www.si.com/nba/2016/02/28/amare-s....
Poison pill was so overrated Lin was a tradable asset. I'm not saying Lin was end all be all. The players were having fun playing with Lin.

Poison pill was so overrated Lin was a tradable asset. I'm not saying Lin was end all be all. The players were having fun playing with Lin.
While appearing Thursday afternoon on ESPN New York 1050's "The Michael Kay Show," Lin confirmed that Anthony told coach Mike D'Antoni to put him in the Knicks' Feb. 4 game against the New Jersey Nets, which was Lin's breakout performance. He scored 25 points and had seven assists off the bench, before being named a starter two days later against the Utah Jazz.On whether Lin appreciated Anthony's gesture, the second-year player said, "Of course! ... I didn't hear about that until after the game."
Based on what Anthony did for his career, Lin finds it all the more surprising that people talk about the Knicks' superstar not jelling with the team's new and improved point guard-focused system. Lin said Anthony wants to feed off of the Knicks' current success.
"That's why I think it's funny right now," Lin said. "Some people are talking about, 'Oh, can Melo adjust into the system?' I mean, Melo wants to adjust to the system, and he doesn't want to shoot 30 shots a game. The fact that he vouched for me shows a lot about him."
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/...
Also, there was a rumor at the time that D'Antoni wanted to waive Lin and the big that got sent to the d league with Lin for that one game. I think, but I might be wrong, that it was reported that Grunwald sent Lin to Erie because he didn't want to waive him. Lin blew up in his only appearance there.
Also, this board was crazy for Lin prior to Linsanity. The Lin versus Wall summer league video had most here really excited about having a guy that appeared to be a much better point guard than Toney Douglas.

Lin in 2016 is a valuable free agent to pursue this summer. He's making peanuts right now at around 2 mil. He's probably worth what we are currently paying Calderón and Affalo which is like 8 million per. If we could get him for 5 mill like what we're paying D-will that would be awesome.
The potential of having Lin, a healthy Wroten and a much improved Jerian Grant is huge. That's 3 players that can create and get to the basket. Add another shooter to that mix at shooting guard and bam....the Knicks will be damn good again

How about this, if Affalo opts out, I would give his $ to Lin in a NY minute.

Sad you can't get a guard better than
Jeremy Lin, in here the Mecca MSG,
Really? Lin sucked sucked once he got that ridiculous overpaid contract. Held us hostage and then booked. Had 15 minutes of fame. Houston thought we would be stupid enough to pay that poison pill. Then they got caught with the bill, to their surprise, and had to take him. They were lucky to dump him off to the Lakers, where he sucked yet again, but only after having to pay for most of the contract. He is just another 2 million dollar average player. Don't make it sound like he would of made us so much better. His contract would of made things worse. And would be even worse in the Triangle, not exactly Dantoni system. Schved was a bigger loss.
Still worth some money but not nearly as much as jilted knicks fans are willing to give him.

Is Dolan sore at the kid?
Would Lin even want to play under the spotlight of expectation and the media crush that comes with it?Then you can "Blame" Phil.
supposedly he was or at least said so, I recall reading.
We also passed on Shved.
I'm wondering if Phil & Co were thinking they were going to end up with a PG out of the draft and made their FA decisions based on that?
We passed on Lin because of the drama that it would cause. The whole season would have been alot the return of Linsanity. When you ate trying to build who needs that distraction? Besides Lin signed with Charlotte fairly quick so I think his mind was made up.
As far as Shved... the Knicks wanted to sign him to that 2.5 mil exemption. Shved wanted 5 mil and no other team was paying that either. He chose to go back home to Europe for the 5 million he wanted.
The end
So we passed on the drama of having Lin return and help us win games and instead got just as much, if not more, drama with Fisher, Rambis and another lost season?
Anyway you look at it there will be something to bitch about the same way you had to throw Fisher, and Rambis in there..... Btw the only drama circulating is from the fans and media. At 22-22 we were all happy. Nobody expected the floor to fall out with FISHER.... And I don't see any drama with Rambis coaching. I'm sure you will elaborate in your response
Actually a lot of the advanced stats at that point indicated that the team had won too many close games and was overachieving.
