Melo should go but he doesn't want to go. I really feel that Melo and CAA has been using the media as a proxy to try to force Phil to get Thibs. On the flip I really think Phil wants Melo to leave and for the knicks to tank one more time.
I have no proof of any of this except Berman and Isola both writing hit pieces at Phil where Melo is made to look like the loyal soldier while inferring he wants Thibs, or that he wants to have a say in the coaching hire (which equals hiring Thibs).
Melo is trying to box Phil in through the media because he doesn't want to leave and just wants to be a playoff team for the rest of his contract.
There is clearly media power plays at all ends but unless CP3 and Melo decide it's the best thing to do and Melo and LaLa buy into post Mambo LA, then Melo will keep the Knicks from being in the second round for the next three years and if it's Rambis they'll be lucky to get in at all. Thibs would make Melo work on D and he needs young legs.
