In fact, I'm not 100% sure he's a starter on a good team. However, he's clearly become a better player--and by better I mean, more efficient, smarter, stronger, better passer, better shooter, more skilled in every way--every year, every game. Guys who get better, continuously, even if they don't turn out to be stars are worth having on your team, especially if they are good citizens and ridiculously hard workers and Seth is both of those. Picking him up cheap a year or two ago was, IMO, a no-brainer. So what if he's never more than a solid bench player . . . and least you have a solid bench guy who's contributing overall and who, at a minimum, will be useful trade bait. I understand taking risks on guys who have amazing upside but may or may not pan out but why the Knicks didn't pick up Seth Curry and make him part of the plan, even if a small part, is a mystery to me. It's like we aren't the best managed team or something. Argh.
I do not believe Curry is going to be cheap--you're going to have to out pay the Kings and that alone is going to cost a lot of money. Everything you outlined is true--and we have a perfect scenario with that because of Grant. So I would pay up and if I half the player I think Im getting--so be it. If Im getting the upside Ive seen the last month--Im getting great value. If we picked up Curry and he did what he has the last 6 weeks--it would cost the Knicks no matter what--but wed have the right to match if he was on our roster. That being said--how hard is it for any player to get a chance here even when we sck?
Yeah, he's probably going to get nice offers if the turns down the Kings and becomes an UFA. I wouldn't object if the Knicks overpay and pick him but the time to add him was a few years ago. We should have made an offer last year when the Kings did . . . or drafted him :) What's good comparison for his career, assuming he doesn't get injured . . . maybe Hubert Davis?

First off he can control space by pulling up for those 30 foot three's which opens the floor for everyone else. Those nifty interior passes--have we seen even 1 of those from Jose Calderon in 2 years here--not one. While the three's will help immensely--to have a PG who can get into the lane with vision and get KP and Lopez easy baskets--that makes the team much much better. I really like the combination of Seth Curry and Pau Gasol with atleast one other big guard and or possibly 2--like Bazemore and if we have enough cash J Craw.I would be aggressive with Curry--there will be more than 1 club trying to get him. I think Dolan--maybe hes learning--it would be a coup to get a really good player with the name CURRY on the back--not named eddy by the way.
So if we are staying with Melo--say NO to the 20mm $ player--try to get Seth Gasol and a shooter to the best cheapest contracts we can--sell them on coming together
This plan sounds more like what Phil is likely to do. So far this has been the kind of methods he's employed. He hasn't been star chasing. He's looked for good value and spreading his money around. So these are the kind of moves I think we can expect from Phil.
Anyone who can lead the entire NBA in 3 pt shooting % over a 2 month period is a serious player--especially when it comes out of the PG position. Its all about getting a chance. How anyone could not see innate skills is beyond me. Hes going to be the best talent/value proposition--and its possible he might be a top 5 free agent when all is said and done. People doubted Steph Curry too still do. This guy is super real. What a name that would be for Knicks fans---easy sell.
FLAG ON THE PLAY --- FLAG ON THE PLAY...BRIGGS..your OVER-exaggerating things again. lol. a top 5 free agent? lol STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
even though hes playing scrub teams or teams who mailed it in cuz they wanna rest, yes i admit he can shoot. he deserves a chance to be a 9th man off a bench. but lets not say hes a top 5 free agent. STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Agree... he has always been a good shooter. However, gets no playing time because he is slow, can't play defense and lacks in athletic ability. He may be a guy to come off the bench in stints for his 3pt shooting.
Wow thats Steph Curry's negatives on his draft report. Not athletic poor defense and somewhat slow--go read it. I tend to think Seth is a high skill player crafty perhaps a top 10 shooter in the league from deep with innate passing skills. You could say guys like Steve Nash are slow cant play D --its all in beauty of the beholder. I guess Phil think Jose is some kind of speed demon. Jose cant do things that Curry can.
As we found out with AA, there is a reason players don't get playing time or get resigned. And it's ussually because of the negatives out weighing the positives. Not because a players abilities haven't been correctly evaluated. But if we are talking giving him a chance over Jose...that's a different story.

Find young guys with upside.
Looks like Curry has a player option for this summer.
Wonder if he'd leave the West Coast? One plus is that by coming to NYC he could kind of carve out his own identity from his brother.
The question is do we wanna bring in another very young point guard to go with J.Grant and T.Wroten?? I love what i just saw in that video and love that he's playing so well after G.Karl made the comment that he won't be in the NBA for long but i'd much rather a veteran point guard if that's the way Phil decides to go.

Ok i was with you on this through the first page but you're getting way ridiculous with these comments.....and you were doing so good to.

No you're not the only one skeptical. I like the kid and THINK he could be something but i don't like to go off of what i see from anyone on a team that has given up and they're playing end of season games against teams that are resting guys or teams that have also given up. I do think he has a chance of being something special but i need to see him on a real team playing against real teams first. If we could get him cheap i'd be all for it though.
I got all I need from watching him tonight. 2 for 15 from the field ... dude can't shoot and has bad games. Neeeeexxxxxxxtttt

Yea I'd be very surprised if curry goes anywhere. It would be nice to snag a prospect like curry cause I could see him breaking out but I'd say two year 11 mill gets it done.

He shot 46% this month, even with that 3-18 game. 16 points a game, 49% from 3, 88% FT, 5 assists and 1 stl.
Not bad...

I watched curry several times the last month. The guy has been great just the guy I want. That game was played erratic last night sacremento played all secondary players. curry fits in as a piece of the pie a cerbreal player who can space the floor. Use the dribble the pass and protect the ball. He won't be shooting 18 times a game rather making 20 plays with other guys he's a piece of the pie with gasol bazemore and hopefully valentine these guys ALL can run the triangle well that's what we want
I don't want to pay Conley 20 mm I'd rather have gasol bazemore and curt combined for not much more

I def agree and would love curry on the team. I just don't see Phil going after him, I really see him tiring to hit a home run with Durant or damarr. Or picking up good roll players on the cheap and wait another year and get a good pick.

So, you are judging him not by his play this year, nor his last two months, nor the last 2 weeks. But his last game?
That seems extreme. Where did those nice numbers come from?

You think he's worth more than what we gave DWill?? I'd still like to get the kid but i'd be very careful with what we gave him and it would still worry me that we'd have 3 point guards that are very young and none with a lot of experience in J.Grant, T.Wroten and S.Curry.

Have to remember the mle is going to 8 mm from 5every contract given should be worth40% more so we can't equate what a player made prior
seth curry looks like he MIGHT have turned a corner but im weary of any guy who puts up these stats at the end of the year. every single year there is a guy who puts up crazy numbers the last month, 99% of the time the guy who does this plays on a team that is nowhere near a playoff spot and the team is riding out the season and they are playing OTHER teams just riding out the season. i have to wonder if curry had any other last name that people would care.

I hear what you're saying but what about the solid numbers in college, the good numbers in summer league, the excellent DL numbers, all culminating with the positive stint at the end of the NBA regular season? There's a body of evidence here that suggests he's no fluke..I don't know about 8mm/yr or whatever but the fact remains this dude has value esp. to a club who's razor thin in the backcourt like we are.
And maybe I'm nuts but if we secured Seth Curry could that increase our chances of landing brother Steph after next season? Probably not but maybe..

no need for stupid numbers. Just watch him play for a few minutes and if you had my understanding of the game, it would be more than enough.
I once looked a 8 seconds of grainy footage of a player in 8th grade and I new he would be a top 5 NBA player. Its how I role
