Knicks · Would you be happy if we signed Seth curry (page 1)

martin @ 4/16/2016 6:10 PM
man you are consumed with this dude. $9M per for a guy who had a good month is a poison pill deal with risk.

Also, if you wanna be in the game for FA in 2017, you can't sign a dude to that much.

nixluva @ 4/16/2016 6:15 PM
Phil would have to be convinced Seth would be able to maintain a high level of play over the course of that contract. I'm not sure how he and his staff feel about Seth. I would guess that they might not be impressed. Phil didn't jump at any of the D League guards that were putting up big numbers.
Vmart @ 4/16/2016 6:21 PM
Knicks fan seriously need to get free agency out of heir heads. It really isn't for the Knicks free agency is for nominal players like Seth Curry. Just get picks and go from there. Free Agency is so hit or miss. The truth is its more a miss.
EnySpree @ 4/16/2016 6:44 PM
Yeah let's max out Seth Curry and then use Grant and Wroten as equipment managers so they can wash Seth Currys drawers.

newyorker4ever @ 4/16/2016 6:45 PM
You must of forgot about this so here you go.

im not gonna pay a kid that much money for having a good april
NumberTwoPencil @ 4/17/2016 1:03 AM
That seems high but . . . someone is going to pay him something along those lines. I'd say he's worth it but . . . some of his worth depends on who the next coach is and what other players are in play. Why not? So he's a sixth man. That works.
smackeddog @ 4/17/2016 3:19 AM
Seth's defense is meant to be statistically worse than Vujacic's- not sure why you completely disregard defense these past few seasons, BRIGGs

4 yr 34 mm is the new mle I think it's good money spent and is disruptive to Sacramento to match the offer

franco12 @ 4/17/2016 7:04 AM
I voted NO because he should have be signed when he was totally free and not encumbered by another team.
Paris907 @ 4/17/2016 11:24 AM
Ask yourself one question: is he the dude you want as one of your starters to take you to the top of the Eastern Conf. ? If not save $9mm I see DeRozen - Westbrook - Batum - among others fitting the role

I'm not voting at all cuz this dude was Jimmer Ferdette until he Rondo was shut down. That's Sacramentos chip to retain. I will not break the market and sign a career bum to a 10 million dollar contact. Let Sacramento be the one to pay him 10 million. If they don't sign him then 3-5 million is as far as I'm offering and it will be a 2 year deal with a team option for the second season

EnySpree @ 4/17/2016 11:29 AM
I'm ready to roll with our own kids Grant and Wroten. Cheaper alternatives with the same upside give or take
BRIGGS @ 4/17/2016 11:44 AM
He's a good player starting not starting I don't care he's a good player who is likely a top 5 nba 3 point shooter with great work ethic. Jeremy Lin got 3 years. 21 mm for not much more in terms of bonafies. Today that contract would be worth 12 mm. Again the mle is 8 mm. I'm not worrying about less than 8% of a cap for a good player who has nice upside still young so many positives with seth
stopstandthere @ 4/17/2016 11:46 AM
No, we will be living under the shadow of Stephen Curry, which is painful.
yellowboy90 @ 4/17/2016 12:00 PM
Sure let's go from Calderon to Caldurry. Dude is mMLE type money at best. Just look at the money other DL for hires got. Richardson, Powell, Jaymychal Green. IF you're going to play fantasy GM you have to think like a GM. See the market, examine his play(stats/film), and look at past contracts of players like him.
WaltLongmire @ 4/17/2016 12:22 PM
I just have not seen enough non-highlight stuff on him to make a decision to give him over $8M/yr.

Remember, he was playing on a poor team and did most of his good stuff at the end of the season.

I have no idea if the Knicks have been looking at him...maybe they have-I just feel hesitant giving him money based on a 10 day run with a team like the Kings.

Hellz yeah it's disruptive because even Sacramento isn't dumb enough to pay him that much and that's really saying something...lol

I'm not worried about paying a good player an MLE. Heck I'm a Knicks fan I understand what it means to overpay. The salary cap is supposed to close to 115 mm in 2 years. 8 mm is equivillant to paying a player 3.7 mm last year. Seth curry was one of 3 players who avg more than 1 three point make per game played and avg more than 45% I think what we saw for the last month was the upside of a really good player-- what's the downside of potentially over paying him by 2-3 mm. None the Knicks would sell millions of curry jersey s easy

EnySpree @ 4/17/2016 2:36 PM
Let the other teams set the market. I don't care what the mid level exception is. I don't care what percentage of the new cap is..... the dude is not worth 8 million today. He damn sure isn't worth 12 million. 3-5 with a team option for year two. That's pretty much it for me
