Nets reportedly hire Atkinson who spent the last two years under Budenholzer in Atlanta as their next head coach. I don't really give a crap who the Nets hire but a little surprised they didn't go for Thibs cause they know Knicks fans want him and the Nets love messing with anything Knicks.
I dont think the nets care about us. They have their own issues to deal with just like we do
I think it was a good hire. Another guy with a spurs like pedigree after working under Budenholzer. The nets have a lot of young guys that need to be developed. He should be a good fit.

Not unless you think K.Rambis is the best coach available with a track record??
Oh my god they hired Kenny Atkinson? When Tom Thibbs is available? What about Mark Jackson? So stupid all this proven coaches and they hire this bum? I'm done being a Brooklyn Nets fan!
Born in NY, assistant coach for the Knicks under MDA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenny_Atki...
On April 17, 2016, it was announced that Atkinson would take the head coaching job with the Brooklyn Nets as soon as his then-employer, the Atlanta Hawks, were eliminated from the playoffs.[10]
lol that just doesn't seem right to say.
Sean marks shook from the Pop Tree in San Antonio, same as Budenholzer.
Nets building a culture and Marks hiring a guy he knows. Horford maybe signs in Brooklyn? Nets won't have championship aspirations for some time but they got cap space. Seems illogical to many thinking that hiring a coach like Thibs brings you instant success. If Thibs brings the past success with him, he also brings some attitude that has not endeared himself to play nice with others in the organization.
Are we picking a coach for Melo, or for a traded Melo?
I think the Nets realize they have some deep digging to do to rebuild the franchise. No quick fix.
And why would Thibs even want to go there, when he can wait for a play off team to fire a coach and have a much better opportunity to step into?
Thibs to Sacremento? That is one dumb franchise. Divac's is clueless and Cousins is toxic. Thibbs need to go to a franchise that has a very secure GM or a team like Detroit that granted SVG the powers of both coach and GM/Roster. If Sac got ride of Vlade, that could work. Thibs in Minny? Thibbs in Milwaukee if Kidd is sacked?
Kenny Atkinson is a great basketball mind. Great move by the Nets.
Nets have a great GM/coaching infrastructure in place now.

Yeah i hate the NJ Nets but i think both of these hires are very good hires and will earn them respect around the league.
Man I'm trying to stay positive but when I have a sinking feeling that we'll end up with Rambis when the smart money is on grabbing one of these young assistants who are "great basketball minds" I just end up needing to take a Pepcid.
If Rambis did not coach in MInny, and has his resume the chips on Lakers would we not be saying "great assistant" as well?
Will Atkinson fail next year because of his roster? Very likely. So did Brad Stevens his first year in BOston. So did Pop.
Nets are moving away from the starphuch and into the long term.

That's a really good point and while most probably won't admit it if he never had that stint in Minnesota he would be looked at as one of the top assistants in the league and as a head coaching candidate by multiple teams for sure, shoot he probably would of already had a head coaching gig by now if the Minnesota thing never happened.

if fisher did not work for the knicks and piss all over himself than he would be at the very top of any list.

I like the direction the Nets are going in. If this happens I would seriously consider switching allegiances. As much as I have despised the Nets and their fans over the years living in Jersey, they are local and the games are all right there on cable for me to watch. Much easier transition than becoming a Charlotte fan
That and I don't feel like waiting another decade for the Knicks to turn it around if ever. They've had ther chances and they keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Melo, the Calderon albatross etc

Oh, I could totally see the Nets doing that. Not a terrible move, either. Linsanity 2.
